Yes, that is normal. I wasn't a fan of how that worked either, so I disabled the bot's ability to post so users were forced to log into the discord site/app to post.

Have you seen this option elsewhere? I'd like to see how it is possible to allow a user to post messages using your own interface.
I do not understand that once his Discord account is associated, and we have joined the discord server from our website we can not post a message under our discord account. That the message does not publish via a bot

it's really not that bad. on my site, the user goes to the chat page, sees that there is active discussion, clicks the 'join' link, and is either taken to the discord web interface, or taken to the client app. i've added a welcome message that asks new users to associate their forum account with discord, so they get benefits like pm alerts, etc.
as far as the automation of all this, you're not going to see this from any addon unless discord makes some kind of integration itself. frankly it's kind of a miracle that we have this addon and widgetbot.io to embed chat in web pages at all.

Is there any chance you'll increase the functionality for discord users to receive a pm for whenever a notification arises on the forum and not just for pm's as it currently does?

This is a problem on WidgetBot's side.
It was updated a time ago to version 2.x (x means that I don't know the version at the moment).
Because of that update was the option, to link through your account, to chat in the widget removed (tl;dr. Login through widgetbot with your account isn't available yet)
This has nothing to do with this Add-on here, which is the reason that messages are forwarded as "Guest" despite the fact, that you're logged in.
@Xyphien This is also an answer to you: Basicly Discord Integration login/linking is not the same as with WidgetBot.
Do you think that in a future update of WidgetBot this is possible?

Hi everyone,
I've followed the installation guide correctly (normally) but i'm still blocking by a error displayed on my Discord page on my xenforo forum.

I've correctly added WidgetBot.io to my Discord Server with administrator role.
I've correctly set in XenForo options, the WidgetBot.io channel post

Ok... set the general channel for widget.io field... but how do I enable it beyond the XF options?
I have searched around for this. It does not seem to be in the current installation video for this add-on.
I go to widgetbot.io and apparently am supposed to create a widget or something, yet that functionality is not available on that website. My page gives me an error, telling me to give the bot permissions.
What bot and where? I was also not assigned the administrator role from the forum, which tells me roles are not being assigned automatically like they're supposed to.
Connection works. New threads and such get posted to the discord text channel. Everything seems to be working EXCEPT this embed chat from the discord tab and role assignment, which is really what the whole system seems to rely upon getting your users from the forum to your discord server.
Purely FYI: I think the video needs an update too, as the discord developer setup is VASTLY different than what is shown in the current video, and it was actually a "fly by the seat of ones pants" moment in working out the specifics required based on old information.
I tried to manually assign the bot to the text channel selected, but that didn't work either.
I really do not understand this bot thing to get this working.
