Ok, yes that advice still stands although it's no longer necessary. In 2.3.1 the improvement that was made was that if you're on XenForo 1.5, checking that permission returns false regardless of what you set it to.

User Essentials 2.4 is going to include profile tags (permission enabled and hooking into XenForo 1.5's tag system).

Daniel Hood - Profile Page
http://xenmods.com/tags/xenmods/ - When viewing a tag that also includes a user
http://xenmods.com/account/personal-details - The page to add your profile tags

Going to include the ability to add tags to other people's profiles (separate permission) too, I imagine most people will only enable this for staff though.

Daniel, getting errors on registration in 1.5,

Also in 2.4.0 is an option to "wrap" the watched threads, watched forums, and conversation areas with the account side bar (it's never made much sense to me that these things were linked to from the account area but then you lose the navigation for the other links -- some may disagree so it's an optional thing).

Daniel Hood updated User Essentials - Enhanced Version with a new update entry:

2.4.0

Using XenForo 1.5 tag system, your members can now set profile tags and be seen in the search results when tags are searched. This can be disabled per user/user-group permissions and there's also a permission setting to let your members manage other members tags.

In your user essentials options category, there are now options to control if watched threads and conversations pages will include the account wrapper template around them.

Is there any more info about this feature, or examples anywhere?

If I'm reading this correctly, does it mean a member could TAG their profile with say California?

If so, and users searched the TAG system for the California TAG, would it return a list of users who each had that same California profile tag -or- would it return a list of everything that was tagged as California?(i.e. regular tags, as well as profile tags all combined together) If all combined together, do you ever see those results being split-out/apart?(i.e. Regular Tags listed in one section, while Profile Tags results are listed separately.)

This feature is live on www.xenmods.com. Feel free to register an account and test it out.

To answer your question though, yes a member could tag their profile with their state. Profile tags are included in the XenForo core tagging system so it would return other content as well. Example being here: xenmods | XenMods See my user profile in the list of content when viewing the "xenmods" tag.

Currently there is no way in the XenForo core to search for just a specific content type tagged with it but I do get what you're shooting for and it could be accomplished within an add-on (this one, another one, as part of a custom project, etc).

Thanxx for the explanation, I figured that was how it worked…for now.;)

I have a similar MOD running on vB3 (vProfile Tag) at present, which allows users to enter their State/Country into a Custom User Profile Field then click on that link to see a member list who share that same State/Country. So, in converting over to XF I'm looking for some sort of way to duplicate that feature…and when I saw 'profile tags' it certainly caught my attention. :sneaky:

One day
, when/if XF (or an add-on) could separate the Standard Tags vs. your new Profile Tags it seems like that might work towards a solution.

P.S.
Thanxx for the invite, I'm headed over to www.xenmods.com next. (y)

Daniel's Add-ons are straight on. Always great and creative features and outstanding support. You won't be disappointed!

Daniel Hood -- I've changed it so when you click a tag from the side bar it takes you to a page showing the other users with that same tag rather than all content with that tag. I'll release 2.4.1 in a little while.
