UI.X 1.5.22.0

No permission to download
Today I woke up as if it were Christmas day. Got my phone and skimmed through emails. Not Updated yet. Oh well. I can wait.

No pressure, just exited that this is coming out.

i went to go download the new update in my audentio CP and it says the download doesnt exist when i click the link for File: ui_x_dark-28_1-2-4-0.zip

lol packaging everything now. Last minute I minified some stuff and upgraded Font Awesome to 4.0.3 which was recently released so I had to repackage. Packaging takes many hours if you'd believe it. Another half hour I think.

dont rush, dont need any mistakes!!!! ;-)

Audentio updated UI.X with a new update entry:

Major Release Please Read

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR OLD UI.X AND ANY SUB-SKINS OR CUSTOM SKINS. WE RECOMMEND INSTALLING THIS FRESH RATHER THAN UPGRADING IT THE TRADITIONAL WAY. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY TIME THIS WILL BE REQUIRED.

========================================

Hello everyone,

For the last few months we've been working on a huge overhaul of UI.X. I can assure you this will be the last time such a huge update is made. The purpose behind this update was to...

So essentially I need to remove my old UI.X styles and import a new version? This is a bit depressing...

I was at the ready, and I'm running the base UI.X (with loads of customizations) which I assume was the first updated style released.
Just make sure @Sheldon that you revert a lot of the main settings. What I do is keep notepad open, go to high customized areas such as navigation style properties, copy the contents of the style property as best I can to a notepad then revert. The reason is because we had to change a lot of style properties, and if you customized it then they will not be upgraded, even if you overwrite the style. Just the way XenForo is written.

I always recommend that everyone, especially for this release, install UI.X fresh. Then install the customized sub-skin (assuming you did that), as a child of the new UI.X. This way you are at least running the latest UI.X version and can just revert some stuff. And if I haven't said it before, remember, this is a framework first and a design second. You should always make any changes to a child/sub skin, not UI.X itself. You should always leave UI.X as it is untouched installed, and then just create a child skin for any edits. This will make your life easier I assure you, come time for upgrades.

That said, we won't have a big release like this again. We'll have new features sure, but we rewrote a lot of thing with this version, and as I've said before I am entirely happy with this version (pending a few bugs that people might find). :D

Read the post I just posted. If you structured your skin the way I mentioned you don't have to. If you didn't, which I'm guessing is most people (it is posted in our documentation and is common practice for any framework - do not edit source code! :P), I recommend installing fresh (you dont necessarily have to), but I imagine there will be things that won't work as expected. I am willing to help all I can though.

The way my styles are setup are as follows:

  • UI.X (base skin - untouched)
    • My Custom Style
      • UI.X Dark (base skin - untouched)
        • My Custom Style - Dark Version
Is that what you mean?
