There is a style property under Style Properties -> Discussion List that makes the entire thread box clickable to take you to the thread, rather than just the thread title. The bug in this case made it so only the first thread in the discussion list had this feature, so I implemented a fix so it worked for all threads again

Under Appearance -> Style Properties -> Global Settings, check "Remove Title from Forum Index".
