UI.X

UI.X 1.5.22.0

No permission to download
Good job on this one guys. Once I got the sync to show up and do went through all the options again I was able to finish up my changes :)

You did that first in your developement copy of xenforo, right?

No because it doesn't normally effect current theme. All is working other than sticky nav on my current theme. I added the 1.4.5 theme seperately then added a child (still not working). Also have errors in the log.

Is this valid for Antiquark too?
I've downloaded/installed audentio-uix_addon-1.0.0.zip, generated the API and looking at "Sync with UI.X Add-on" in line with the disabled Antiquark parent theme.
Is it safe to proceed?

I an running forum software since 12 years.

The most important rule is: No change is done in the productive environment without testing it first in the developement copy.

The 2nd most important rule is: No excemption to rule 1.

A Style change can have a huge impact your community. Have experienced tha on a forum where i have been moderator. It almost killed the forum.

Nevermind - I fixed it. JS didn't install correctly via the new auto uploader.

Back to 1.4.3 until I can work out how to do this without making it look a mess!

I really don't know how to update my current UI.X (1.4.2). I've installed the AddOn and then UI.X but it created i complete new UI.X Style. My custom style is still a substyle from the 1.4.2.

Not sure what happened here. But for some reason instead of upgrading the existing UI.X template it created a new one.

Not sure what to do now. I did NOT have the sync button checked as I didn't know what it did and didn't want it harming my other styles.

I don't want to delete the one its created as I can not see no way to reinstall the styles again.

Here is what I see. Help Please!

^thanks.

And just so I'm clear, if we've already got it setup as UI.x -> child theme that's been edited, syncing and upgrading via the addon won't change that structure nor replace any of the edits to the child theme while still upgrading them both?
My question as well.

it's okay.
The problem with the rights.

How to update an existing style?
I do not have a button "sync"

We are thinking of a way to keep the check for unassociated styles button on when we release.

So, after talking to our system admin, he changed some permissions on the server and now the update is working perfectly!

Now, after update, I have some old templates. I have never done this before. For example this one:

mItA7xF.png

I can't remember that the blue highlighted code was inserted/changed by me. Do I have to remove it? Or just apply changes?

That looks like something we would have written so yep should be fine :)

Ok, maybe I'm missing something. In Appearance > Styles I don't have any button for syncing UI.X. What I do have is a new menu in my ACP for UI.X, that has Styles and Options. Under the Styles menu is lists all the styles you sell, and asks me if I want to install UI.X. 1.4.5.

Also, the new Facebook/Twitter feed thing isn't really something that I'm all that interested in. Any way to get rid of that?

The sync feature I understand is a bit confusing but this is essentially whats happening:

1. We need a way to say "This theme right here is UI.X or UI.X Dark or some other theme of ours"
2. This isn't a problem if we built this feature out of the gate, but being that we are just now introducing it, we need a way to support everyone else's themes
3. So we came up with the check for unassociated themes option. With that enabled, under Appearance > Styles we will look to see when the titles match. Ie "UI.X" or "Reneue" or some other product. When it does you can choose to "sync". All this means is that we mark it as one of our products so you can update it. It only works if you make the title the same so it might be worth editing the title for now. We figured that no one should be editing the theme in general. The title I understand so I know its a bit of a pain. We just couldn't think of a better way.
4. You only have to do this once though cause once you're setup with the add-on upgrades will be cake. So we are here to help anyone with their problems I assure you!

We are going to get rid of the top tab, we agree it isn't necessary. Going to put it on the sidebar in Appearance. We plan to have a lot more features, hence the tab with the feeds (just to fill space really), so itll make more sense in the future but we won't put it back as a tab.

^thanks.

Here is the main difference between upgrading and installing new:

Upgrading:

First you sync, then you can press the button to upgrade. No child theme is created as we are assuming you already created one to make your edits to at a previous point in time.

Installing:

A new theme is installed, it comes with a child theme to edit.

Syncing does nothing but match it up with the add-on so you can do one-click upgrades. Nothing crazy fancy is going on it just tells the add-on "Yes you can upgrade this theme now, we see it"

@Jake B. mind taking a look here?

No, only because we didn't release Antiquark yet we wanted to make sure UI.X was fine before upgrading everything else. You UI.X users are power users generally so Im trusting you to break things for me!

But seriously I know this is a bit bumpy just know we are here 100% to help with any issues.

Thanks.

Likely you need to merge templates. And make sure the javascript console is clear. If not post what you see here ( F12)

Adding this to the bug list, it might be something we overlooked.

Im sorry that you are having to jump back, but I assure you that once you get it installed properly it should work quite well! I know installing isn't as simple but its just this version since we need to get everyone over to the add-on. Without the add-on we cannot phrases or added functionality, we are limited.

I really don't know how to update my current UI.X (1.4.2). I've installed the AddOn and then UI.X but it created i complete new UI.X Style. My custom style is still a substyle from the 1.4.2.

Did you sync/upgrade or did you create a new style? If you renamed UI.X (ie to include the version) you won't get the sync button (I know its kinda irritating). But yeah upgrading shouldn't install a theme. Its OK though that you did it this way. I would just export your child theme then reimport it into the new UI.X that you installed. Ignore the child theme it created or delete it. Then when you are happy and after you've made backups, delete the old 1.4.2 UI.X and child theme of that. Make backups of course.

Not sure what happened here. But for some reason instead of upgrading the existing UI.X template it created a new one.

Not sure what to do now. I did NOT have the sync button checked as I didn't know what it did and didn't want it harming my other styles.

This is perfectly fine, same issue as above. I would export your child theme then re-import it as a child of the UI.X that you installed. Upgrading does the same thing pretty much. Then, after making backups, delete your old copies of UI.X and the child themes.

Also, if you are getting visitor tabs twice, note that we changed the template name from uix_visitorTabs to navigation_visitor_tab. The reason for this was strictly to support template modifications here. No other difference. So just make sure you merge templates and the second tab should go away.

Thanks Mike.

I installed it OK after a while but with some discrepancies (all templates merged). The node icons went to default and a few other styles reverted back.
