3 posts later, I'm still not sure why the price is being argued about.
Listen, it's simple. If you don't want to buy the best software at the lowest price because you're not confident in the community's potential... maybe you should be shopping for a free solution instead of asking XenForo to drop their license price to $70 (you're wanting to pay $70 per license when either ipb or vb will cost you nearly 3x as much [maybe more]). They offer small discounts for bulk licenses, it's been the same for years and it'll continue to be the same or probably increase over time.
I realize this forum is called "Off Topic" so lets avoid that joke in response to the rest of this paragraph. This thread was not about "How can XenForo be used on more low quality communities" it was about "What do you want to see from XenForo". If KAM wanted our opinion on how to sell software, they'd probably ask. I really think they have it handled. From a consumer point of view, they started a new business in a tough market, survived a lawsuit and 4 years of operating; I think they know what they're doing.
Your business model works in retail, it doesn't apply to software. I have yet to ever see a reputable product offer such an assinine deal. I've seen 20% off discounts and stuff, but to say "we'll match you license for license" screams desparation and they may as well just drop the price 50%.
You've been told it's a bad idea for almost 4 pages of a thread (80 messages), let it go.
