i'm looking for an easy to use wiki like this, but i need the option to assign the discussion threads to a different forum node for each page/category. any chance this could be done in a future version?

You have to make your own wiki page.Is it possible to have the page list show right below the main wiki index page? http://i.imgur.com/KJMLzV2.png (done with photoshop)
Or at least be able to have the page list become main index page (I prefer the first option above if that's possible)
Also, an easier way to make tables with the editor would be very helpful.

As for easier tables... you can install a table bbcode.
No. Each wiki page can only have 1 thread linked to it.This is true, but doesn't that just create the same thread in each node for every page created? It seems more useful to enable automatic thread creation and be able to assign each wiki page it's own node to post in rather than just turning one (or more) nodes into a dumping ground for everything that happens in the wiki.
I apologize if I'm totally misinterpreting how it works.
No. Each wiki page can only have 1 thread linked to it.
This is essential. But it's not so simple since all edits would need to be held in a separate table and then updated once approved. But I do agree, it is absolutely essential otherwise a wiki is generally only usable by moderators. Opening it up for open edits is a recipe for disaster (and spam!) Same goes for posts - users can contribute but all posts must go into moderation before appearing.@Jaxel Is there a way to set it so that anyone can edit, but edits have to be approved by wiki moderators?
i think we're mis-communicating here slightly.
what i mean is that a lot of xenforo plugins (such as the resource manager) will create a thread in any forum node you specify. you specify which node the thread should be created in when you set up the category (again, going with the xfrm example). so, when i set up the 'biking' category (in xfrm), i set the forum to automatically create the thread in to the 'biking' forum node. then i create another resource with a different category that's configured to automatically create threads in the 'sailing' forum node, etc, etc...
as far as i can tell, xencarta will only allow you to specify one forum node where all wiki threads will appear.
I'm sure that if you find a coder, they will accept your financing.would it be possible to finance this addition to the plugin?

Understood and thanks for sharing your intentions. I have VaultWiki for more heavy duty lifting - for exactly the kind of things we're talking about, e.g. the need for complete moderation of page editing. XenCarta does a great job for people I trust for all the reasons you shared. That said, I would like one preference which I don't think would change the essence of the wiki itself nor add to server load. I'd like to put the creation of new pages (and ideally also the editing of old pages) into the standard XF moderation queue for admin/moderator approval. That would probably be an acceptable compromise that will also allow for added flexibility without too much modification of the core. Thanks in advance for any consideration. This is a "lite" wiki. Its not designed to be a completely open wiki system. Its designed to be a heavy regulated system, in which you only allow permissioned usergroups to edit pages. Since only specific users can edit pages, the need for an edit queue is pointless. The wiki is designed in such a way as to reduce the server load you find with other wikis. My wiki, when running through VaultWiki took 30-45 seconds to load a single page... with this wiki, it takes 0.2 seconds.

+1Quick pre-sale quesiton:
Does this currently work with the latest version of Xenforo (1.5.1)?
Also - does it maintain the responsive design if the style I'm using has that feature?
would it be possible to finance this addition to the plugin?
It should be very easy to add... I mean, there is already a thread system in place.@Jaxel sorry to keep bugging you, but i'd really like to see the addition of the ability to automatically create a threads per wiki page (as is default) but into a custom forum node of my choosing (per wiki page), and I'd be willing to finance this change in addition to the plugin cost. would you be interested in this?
