XenForo 1.3 General Discussion & Feedback

Right, but when someone copies and pastes an entire thread and then pastes it on another xenForo site or a site with a WYSIWYG editor, it will include the proxy portion of the link and those clicks will also count, even though that url is no longer on your forum. Is that not correct?

Worse, all external links will be broken when a message is copied from a XenForo site which uses the link proxy feature.

They will only break if you invalidate them.
I thought the XF proxy could only be accessed if the referrer is their own website? My understanding is if you try to access XF's link proxy from, say, vBulletin then it wouldn't work because the referrer wouldn't be XF.

I could be wrong, I just thought I saw a discussion on it when people were discussing abuse of the proxy system.

If I copy a link like this (use right-click and copy link location):

http://www.google.com

This is copied:

Code:
http://xenforo.com/community/proxy.php?link=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&hash=dbe607508848eb6e5d37cd577eb3f661

If I now paste this to another forum or website the link will be broken.

Technically not because the hash is still there.

This was a good tune up and a good fix for some missing features. Hope we will see profile pages and node pages get some much needed attention in 1.4 / 2.0.

As my post states: "Not all new features will be implemented immediately or they may not even be implemented here"
Maybe they shouldn't be introduced/mentioned at all until ready to be implemented?
Isn't the feature worth to implement here? It should go to Resources.

It is developed.
It just hasn't been enabled here.

Why would you think 1.3 would be rolled out here if it wasn't ready?

Just to prove it, here's a screenshot of the ACP taken a few seconds ago:

There are plenty of features that exist that may not get used here. They're developed because various customers request them.

I personally think multi-quote is a bad feature. It's mostly on here for testing; it may not be enabled beyond the beta. There aren't any custom BB codes that I see a pressing need for here. But both of these have been very commonly requested. The same goes for smilie management.

We've never demonstrated any features that didn't exist or weren't implemented (no mock ups).

I agree with that, I don't need it.

I need it badly.

BTW with IE I have to type manually [ quote][ /quote]

I have always been confused by Xenforo's "reply" and quote" system. So the new multi quote just adds to it. If you see here http://xenforo.com/community/threads/abuse-of-power.67180/#post-706275 - sorry @Adam Howard I hijacked that test thread, I get the same "multi quote" effect as the new multi quote feature, am I missing something? In the first example, I just "replied" (reply button) to all of the posts, the second one, I used the multi quote + button…just don't get the new feature and how its different then what was already there besides being able to put them in specific order, not sure why you would need that however. Also, the Spoiler is ok if you want 1000's of useless posts with silliness on your forums, not sure how that will fair with good search engine "content." Same feelings on the smiles. Don't need to be a "Debbie Downer" but I think there are far too many more important things that could of been added to enhance an Xenforo "forum" experience where most people on the net come to engage in useful content.

Multi-quote allows you to quote across different pages and even different threads quickly and easily without having to use your OS clipboard to store the quotes. Using the Reply button, you can only quote what's on the current page.

Again- perhaps a good tool for mods and admins ( can't remember the last time I would even need to multi quote multiple threads from different content to be honest) but really does nothing to enhance my users forum experience...as far as usefulness -just my 2 cents.

In which case, luckily for you, there's a setting in the ACP to disable the functionality :)
