The silence is deafening and concerning...

7 months since the last update about the future of XF doesn't inspire me to send them my money.
To be fair: The latest news was on Dec. 5th, somewhat over a month ago (though as a message within a thread and not in form of a dedicate news):

Work on XenForo 2.4 is ongoing. A new HYS is coming soon, and we are targeting a release for some point in 2026. As for 2.3.8, we’re aiming to release that before Christmas, or shortly after the New Year.

And when they go bust in the meantime because they can't pay their bills, wages, etc..... ?

maybe they should add a donation button to this site
if they are that close to going bankrupt they need more than a few ppl giving them money for no reason to save things...

On the financial side, the company is doing fine. Actually, we are in a stronger position than we were previously, largely thanks to the continued growth of Cloud.

Somewhat irritating when the same people that complain about lack of communication ignore the communication that has been made and instead once more phantasize about things that have been clarified officially (not for the first time and despite this kind of behavior is destructive and has be named as that multiple times).

Firstly, if they are working as hard as they say in the background, bearing in mind most are like us juggling work, life and family time, do you honestly think that knocking them will give you the best from them? I know from my personal experiences the more you are knocked the less likely you are to put the effort in.
Agreed, it's a motivational killer and is why I've made my comments on this, but don't go on about it constantly. They must have developed a thick skin by now. The criticisms are valid though and comms really, really should improve.

Secondly, all those who don't renew licences but still use the product are in effect taking but not putting back in. XenForo isn't a one-off product, a fit and forget, its something that is worked on and nurtured by all - that's you, me, the add-on developers, the XenForo staff and devs, it's a team effort. When the biscuit barrel dries up, when wages and costs can't be met, don't expect it to survive, then where will we all be?
That would be true if self hosted was all they had, but XF Cloud has been around for years now and earns them a steady income, they've said so themselves, so don't worry about the money.

Or maybe you should pay for your license renewal
why should i do that? they have more money than i do.. then personally when i say im gonna do something, i consider that a point of honor so it either happens or theres a communication, full stop....

give them free money for poor performance and communication is purely mental...blame the victim etc....

if you have a surplus and would like to renew for me, please send me a PM or a DC or whatever the heck they are called these days, i can help facilitate your campaign ;)

i totally missed that post.....so easy for replies to get buried in these threads that you start to assume staff doesnt even read....i think we need a banner notification when staff makes a post how rare it is these days.....that did feel good to see that, thanks for pointing that out :)

You could use what has been already there for ages for exactly that purpose... ;)

Seriously? I am here searching around because I am wondering where the heck all the updates are. I am not a frequent follower of this forum - I just check in once or twice per year to see what's up. What's up is 2.4 promised a YEAR ago and bugs today that are directly impacting the quality of my users' experience on a daily basis - bugs that were acknowledged months ago.

If, as a customer of your services, I have to go to your web site and search for updates because you have wildly missed deliverables that you yourself set, you have already messed up.

I am running interference with my forum because I have been acknowledging the issues and saying a fix was "in the works". How about updates - front and center - that I can believe... and not a suggestion that I have to "follow" staff members and read everything they ever post and filter it for content?

My hint was a pragmatic way for @fireiggyfire to overcome the issue he has by using the existing options he himself has w/o being dependent from a feature that would have to be implemented by XF staff. I was not a request to you what you should do.

When there will be an update there will no doubt be a prominent post be made by someone from XF and as long that there is none there is probably no update / new version as well. If you only check in once or twice a year it seems for one probably not too urgent anyway and secondly you would have to dig for updates anyway as the threads related to them will probably be burried by other threads already.

Of course you could simply visit the announcement forum, where - surprisingly - announcements for new versions are published:

You could also set a watcher for the announcement forum. Then you would conveniently be notified whenever a new announcement pops up. You could even set you notifications to get these via emails so you would not need to visit the forums to get notified. But I guess an idea like that would be too constructive and pragmatic...

You are not a customer of mine, you don't have to visit my website (why should you or even I want that?), I have neither missed deliverables nor have I messed up. I have absolutely no relation with XenForo, I am just a customer, the same as you are - so why are you attacking me? Seems rather you are the one who messed up badly...

I fail to see anywhere that he was attacking you. He was simply venting about the whole ordeal. He never even mentioned you!

He answered to my post by quoting me and attacking me for the hint I gave, claiming this hint would be a request by XenForo. Then further using "you" within his rage-post. Given that he seems to be running a forum himself he should probably know what a discussion thread is and how it works, what quoting is and how it works and what in opposite to that a direct message or email to XF would be. As far as I saw in the whole thread there was no one from XF active (let alone that they had started the thread) - so whome did he think to trigger with his "you" if not the person he was answering to, quoting and attacking?

These kinds of threads always end the same way...
