@zzlpolitics If you send me a link to those posts I'll look into it, but AFAICT that's entirely Twitter's decision. It's possible their layout does not reliably "linkify" the correct parts of the tweet, or they're running some kind of A/B testing.
Hey, I was on mobile when I sent that first post so didn't really test it myself but it seems like it has to be related to whether it's a quote tweet or not. Don't think you can do anything about that.

This plays in player: https://zzlpolitics.com/threads/tru...ly-musk-trump-interview-thread.208/post-14528

This does not: https://zzlpolitics.com/threads/tru...ly-musk-trump-interview-thread.208/post-14524

Only difference is quote tweet or not.

So, no worries but just thought I'd ask!

I just installed this add-on and I can't find a single facebook link that shows embedded.
Is this one for example supposed to embed? If not, can you give me a link that is supposed to work?

Thanks.

Short links are not always directly supported, and when they need to be resolved to a permalink, they depend on the third party site (Facebook here) not blocking automated requests. Right now the add-on doesn't support /share/ URLs, but I'll see if I can add it in the next update. If you post a permalink such as https://www.facebook.com/groups/francepermaculture/permalink/2603488166519287/ it should embed correctly, as long as you don't have an adblocker that blocks Facebook. You can see a list of most supported types of URLs on this page: https://s9etextformatter.readthedocs.io/Plugins/MediaEmbed/Sites/#facebook

Thanks for your quick reply, i understand.
It's at the dawn of my 50th birthday that I browse the Facebook pages a bit, it doesn't interest me that much but I hope to find some future members there, so I force myself... How did you find this permalink? (it works well) No matter how much I searched, I couldn't find it, I'm currently on PC.

Right now the add-on doesn't support /share/ URLs, but I'll see if I can add it in the next update.
This would be great because my first instinct to share Facebook content on my forum is to click on the share button. But perhaps more experienced users find a link (permalink?) more effective...

When I click on your /share/ link, it automatically forwards me to https://www.facebook.com/groups/francepermaculture/posts/2603488166519287/. You can copy that URL from your browser's URL bar. In the post itself, the permalink is often available either in a menu or by clicking the post's date. Here, if I click the post's date, it goes to https://www.facebook.com/groups/francepermaculture/permalink/2603488166519287/, which is another URL that leads to the same post. Facebook has many many different types of URLs.

Thank you @JoshyPHP

I don't know if it's come from my installation but some link are embedded with the facebook logo out of the frame:

What kinds of URLs did you try? There are lots of different types of URLs on Facebook and I try to support most of them in the add-on, especially those that people actually use.

Seems like there is some conflict with internal URL unfurling? Some facebook links are in URL unfurl tag, some in MEDIA tag. So maybe a settings issue?

But when I change it from URL unfurl to MEDIA, I'm getting frame with "This Facebook post is no longer available. It may have been removed or the privacy settings of the post may have changed." even the post is public and visible to anyone.

EDIT:

Code:

Works great

Code:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/E6UcoD6GPtVwzHFn/
Internal URL unfurl

Code:
https://fb.watch/u9xtN0bxUW/
Not working, displays only text link

I'm running latest version of your addon.

@JoshyPHP Just a heads up dude, your zip file says it's version 2.16.5 (this is what is read in the admin panel too) but on here you're saying it's version 2.6.15.

This could be a little confusing so I thought i'd bring this potential typo to your attention. :)

You did well, thanks. I was in a hurry when I posted the update. 😅 This should be fixed.
You can actually edit the version via "edit resource" if it is quickly enough (I think it is within the day?), or report your resource and XF can edit the version value for you.

I've had todo that a few times myself.

@Xon Yeah, it's not my first time either but I was concerned about possible side effects.

Thinking about it, it would be nice if the update form autofilled the version number based on the file, if the version was not manually entered. For example, after attaching my-foo-1.2.zip the version_string field would autofill with 1.2. I should post it as a feature request when I have a minute, unless anybody else wants to do it for me. :D I tried writing an extension for my browser but I had to give up halfway through.
