Daniel Hood updated Moderator Essentials with a new update entry:

Convert posts to conversation mesages

  • Added the ability to convert posts to conversation messages (includes a new permission).
    • This will soft-delete the posts (with the option to hard-delete instead -- requires the hard delete permission) and start a conversation including all the members that authored the posts involved.
    • The moderator performing the action can also type a brief message that will become the most recently reply to the conversation and also make them a participant in the conversation....

Got another one for you

I'm really surprised that this was not part of the core, and even more surprised that this is not available via any addon. Even the addition to the mod log in XF1.5 was completely disappointing IMO. You can filter by what mod took what action, but not by the user upon which the action was taken and can't filter down to the type of action taken on them.

What I was expecting (I was totally expecting this to be default) is a function that would allow a Mod/Admin, on the front end or the ACP, to view a summary of active warnings or even a summary of all warnings evern given, based on (in order of) the user, or based on (order of) level of severity. Why is this not anywhere in Xenforo or any addon? It completely befuddles me. You have to go to the Mod Log, which you can only search for 30 days max via this addon, then it only shows the individual warnings.

The only way to figure out where someone sits is by going to their profile. What if a warning was given 2 months ago, and active for 3 months? No way to figure that out unless you remember giving it.

Is this just a function that no one cares about having? Seems that if one of my mods asks "hey is there a way we can see who has ever received a warning" the answer is basically "yeah but it's a total pain"

So, am I missing something or is there just no easy way to do that?

This one https://xenforo.com/community/resources/warning-improvements-by-xon.4156/ I thought would have it, but it doesn't look like it does

Can Move or delete the threads or posts reasons mandatory for moderators ? On xenforo default, moderators don't forced to enter any reason while movin or deleting posts/threads. But we want this feature as forced because members want to show reasons about their threads which moderated. @Daniel Hood

Thread Tools

When viewing a thread, there's two new links next to the "watch thread" link (permissions are required).

  • Top Contributors
    • Clicking this pops up an overlay that displays all the users that have posted in the thread along with a counter of how many times each one posted.
    • Permission: "[ModEss] Can View Top Contributors"
  • Moderator Log
    • Clicking this pops up an overlay that displays the moderator log regarding actions taken on the...

Very useful features for users and mods. Thanks!
Yeah, I was trying to decide whether or not the Top Contributors part belonged in User Essentials or Moderator Essentials. Decided it might be used as a staff tool more than common knowledge.

Glad you find it useful though.

I've had users request a list of thread contributers for a while now (for megathreads), but we run both add-ons, so doesn't matter to me where it goes ;)

@Daniel Hood,

Can we get a permission to just view bans, that way we don't have to give them the ability to ban. (Great for answering questions about bans and stuff, if they can read the reason), and the ability to control searching by IP via permission, nothing seems to be able to turn that off.

I'll likely include that in the next version. Tying a few more permissions in shouldn't be too hard. Thank you for your kind words in your review too. :)

Maybe a suggestion for the next upgrades: Have "duplicate posts" moderated as well. System detects if a doubled topic is found. I have no idea if this brings the server to its knees. Maybe just limiting it to thread titles.

What's New?
  • Thread Notes
    • User permission to grant access to thread notes. This allows your staff to easily create a secondary thread in the node of your choice where they can discuss things happening in the thread. Useful to discuss potential discipline of users.
    • To configure this new feature, these are the recommended steps:
    1. Create a new node that isn't displayed in the forum list and only staff has access to (a child node of an...

@Daniel Hood,

Thanks for creating the permissions I asked for.

Can the addon be updated so that mods that can't mod certain sections can't use this addon to reach in and remove thread bans they normally wouldn't be able to outside their section?

And possibly somewhere in the options the ability to force all Conversations by Warnings to come from a designated account.

Well, I'd actually consider this a bug so yes.. that needs to be updated.

Noted for future suggestion.

Noted for future as well. I didn't mean to ignore your request. I just had version 1.10.0 already planned and didn't want to delay it for this.

Hey @Daniel Hood any chance you can make this part of ME

Add option to e-mail staff/admin/mods upon any moderation action

Please? Pretty please????

Any chance that either of these are in the queue?

They're all in the queue. It's just that there isn't really a queue. I more or less keep a list and fit them in based on how popular I expect them to be, how easy it is to accomplish, how time consuming it'll be, and to be honest how much I want to work on it (there are some parts of the code that aren't easy to work with, there are some tasks that just don't interest me, etc). I'm not saying that any of these are reasons your requests haven't been implemented, I'm just saying there's factors.

Also, a lot of the time a new feature is implemented immediately after request is because the development is being sponsored. Not saying you have to sponsor the development of your requests but it gets them knocked up in priority for sure.

I'm wondering if I have a conflicting addon because I'm having a few odd issues.

When I click discuss in the Mod Log it returns this message

"Please enter a valid message."

Threads are not being started in the node that I selected for Action Discussion. Also, maybe I'm just blind but I can't seem to find anywhere to initiate thread notes.
