FAQ Manager by Iversia 3.2.0

No permission to download
I'm not really sure where the sense of entitlement is coming from in here. This is a free add-on. As per its DBAD license, it's released "as is" and the code is provided with no warranty. I am under no obligation to work on, add things, or otherwise "fix" things that are broken. I made it for my site, and only released it to the public because it seemed as though other people would get some use out of it as well.

If you remove or otherwise alter my copyright without paying for it, I see it as totally being well within my rights to not help you in any way. That's the way the cookie crumbles.

Yeah, seems like it's trying to access a variable that isn't there. I'll get that fixed in the next release.
I've noticed one more thing, but I'm not sure if this is as expected. When you disable the option for users to open FAQ questions, they still have the ability to mark the "Likes your FAQ answer" in user's notification preferences (UserCP).

Nice catch. I'll toss a permission check into that template for the next update. :)

@arms That's something that I've thought about. Eg. Users being able to ask a question, it entering the moderation queue, and then an admin/mod answering and publishing it. It might not make it into the next release, but maybe in the future.

Great addon! Still setting it up and getting familiar with it, but a few questions. If these aren't possible, I'd like to suggest them as possible future features.

- I'd like to set permissions to edit the FAQ based on category. I don't think this is possible, but I'd like community leaders to be able to edit things like the RPG FAQ but not have access to change our legal terms/privacy policy.
- Is it possible to add links to the FAQ category and/or answer list?
- Have most of you disabled the help section/questions and moved the answers to the FAQ Manager? Best way to do this? Or are you treating the help as more generic things (advertise, about the site, etc., and having the FAQ as more specific? Just wondering the best way)
- I'd like to have the option to have all questions listed underneath the category in the left category navigation. Right now it shows the questions in the main area (which is great), but I'd like to have shortcuts under particular categories when their selected for quicker navigation.
- Would it be possible to add a form to a FAQ answer? I'd like to have a contact form integrated on the actual page, instead of linking to it.

Sorry for so many questions/suggestions. Really excited to finish up my FAQ and release this, my members will love it and it will save me so much time answer support questions. Thanks!

@Live Free Those are some great ideas that are coming out of those suggestions. :)

> I'd like to set permissions to edit the FAQ based on category.
Currently not possible. This was built mostly as an admin tool. I don't believe I'll be adding individual category permissions in the future, but there may be question/answer moderation later on, with the ability for people to edit the questions that they answered. So that could essentially work as you're describing.

> Is it possible to add links to the FAQ category and/or answer list?
You can add links to the FAQ category listing by making a few small template edits. Going about doing the same to the answer list would be quite a bit more complicated.

> Have most of you disabled the help section
I've left mine alone on all of my boards, and use my FAQs to answer more specific site questions.

> I'd like to have the option to have all questions listed underneath the category
Like a jump down/anchor list? The only problem I see us running into with this idea is that the questions, if they're long, might end up getting truncated, and potentially break styles/themes.

> Would it be possible to add a form to a FAQ answer?
Yes, but it would require custom BBCode, and/or another add-on. I'm not too sure if something like this already exists.

is there a way to change the order of the questions? am i missing it.

I was creating a my fq and then thought of a question which should have been nearer the start. but dont know how to change question number

Yep, you can change the default sort order in the options. :) The next release has "Sticky" questions which you can pin to the top of categories. It's just undergoing the final round of testing.

I like to have FAQ in an order of which a new member may need know them. The set order can be changed in the admincp but it does allow to insert a question eg between questions 5 and 6 etc

would be much better if each individual question had a display order number like the categories. so if you think of another question later you can insert it anywhere.

even so, Fantastic addon.

Is there no way to order the FAQ entries? I want them in a specific order with the basic questions at the top.

[Edit - someone just beat me to it. Definitely need a sort order field for FAQ entries.]

Also if there is 1 view of a FAQ item, it reads 1 Views.
