Before I buy...

I have been thinking all along that I was going to purchase a vBulletin license and then I found this software. I am very impressed but I would like to see a few example forums besides the one here. I am curious to see how customizable the look of the forum is. Can some of you please share with me a link to your forum so I can have a look. Also, are you all happy with your XenForo experience? The more details the better.

Thanks everyone!

I'm currently converting my RP site over to XenForo. I'm using my XF development site to convert it over. The style is far from completed as I am focusing more on the coding side of it as I need to implement a few things before I continue with the style.

I have already fixed some issues between FF and IE, but not all. I chose to support the latest versions of all the main browsers only.

Here is the forum:

Those are two of our own forums which show varying degrees of customization. I could probably list a few others of clients we did custom styles for, but I'd have to ask their permission first. Rest assured that XenForo can be tweaked to the extreme if you'd need it.

As for being happy, I love working with XenForo so much I am now doing it professionally (though not full-time yet), and I'm having a blast with it :) It scales well, is a breeze to administrate, and very light-weight on the server resources.

I used to run vB4 and spent the last few months depressed whenever I had to go into my admincp. I actually considered ceasing the forum altogether, and then found out about XenForo. I never looked back, and despite having to bite the bullet and consider the thousands of USD we spent in vB and the add-ons etc we needed, replacing it with XenForo is easily one of the best decisions I ever made.

vB4 was a disaster for me.
Slow, clunky, ugly.
IB is a mega corporation that doesn't care about forums or forum admins.
The farce that was and still is vB4 made me look elsewhere.

And then I heard the creator of vB3 (which I loved) was making a new forum .... called Xenforo. After trying Xenforo I knew why vB4 sucked ... the force behind vB3 left !
We love Xenforo and I've got 3 friends converted as well.

Users just love the Alerts, etc.

I'm currently converting my RP site over to XenForo.

Hi Echo,
Sorry I have to put my two cents in here. I was with Vbully for few years and I'm so glad I found this software. Vbully's latest, VB4 is just plain FUGLY. I mean who actually thought that cutting off the top of a forum and having oversized. 1990's navigation bar buttons looked good??? It looks really bad. You have to heavily customize the damn thing right out of the box or have a fugly forum. Not so with XF though as out of the box it looks sleek and great, IMO. And their ACP, geeze get out the Tylenol now my brother, you're gonna need it. With this software, the ACP is straightforward, very easy for knobs like me, and for some reason my brain likes XF much better. You know the old saying, "Less is more," well as far as ACPs goes, this is so true. Not that XF has less, it's just better laid out, easier to navigate and far more straightforward.

Now let's talk about their support forums a bit.. To me, it felt like being in highschool all over again. And the nastiness, some coming from staff members, was really umsual and not sure why a company would even allow this. Sure there are a few more mods but in actually how many of them would you use? It's nice to like a software BUT some of VB's usual hags defend VB like it's a lover. I mean in actually it's just a friggen forum script. You don't know how many times I felt like telling some of them to get a life or perhaps a real wife. LOL Or hell get laid already. LOL

And finally, I've only been here for about a week and so far the support from members alone has been great-with one actually letting me play with his real back end for a while. Well that statement looks a little porn-ish but you get what I'm saying.

Good luck in whatever you choose. Both software have something for someone, I've just learned my lesson the hard way, spending way too much money for a clunky bloated system.

Here's a style I've been working on the back burner, XF is extremely easy to customize. Everything in here is currently coded, that's a live screen of the style.

I really appreciate all of your insight and help. I have been playing with this forum all day and I am enjoying the functionality and appearance.
Question though... What is involved in having people sign into the forum using facebook?

Facebook sign-up is standard with XF. Members can just click the Facebook button to sign up with your forum. I don't use FB so I am not sure how many steps it eliminates for your potential new members.
