If I buy a new license and hire a Fiverr freelancer to migrate vbulletin 3.8, do I...?

Hey guys and gals,

I think I want to switch from vbulletin 3.8 to xenforo.

My question is, once I buy the xenforo license, I plan to hire a Fiverr freelancer to migrate my forums from the old vbulletin to xenforo and make sure everything works properly and customize it to my liking. Do I send them all the new xenforo files for them to upload it on my server or should I upload the files to my server directly where my forums currently live, then have them access the control panel and have at it?

(I have used Fiverr coders for many years without issue, so I am confident in outsourcing it on Fiverr unless someone here can do it for that price).

Also, my old forums have photo galleries from my old users. Do I need to buy the xenforo photo gallery extension or will my old photo galleries transfer to the new xenforo software without the need for the xenforo galleries? (No idea if these are compatible anyways).

Thanks in advance!

Get the xenforo media gallery and ask @MySiteGuy for redirection scripts.

i’m looking at migrating as well and I’m trying to get all the information I can before taking the plunge. My migration would be from MyBB. Well, I understand there are many variables. I’m just trying to get a sense… If I installed the core XF on my shared host. Is there a ballpark range anyone could provide as to what it might cost to have someone perform the migration?

If it’s impossible, even to provide an approximate range, could someone suggest what information I might need to provide to get a quote?

Would it be more than a link to the website and a list of the plug-ins that I’m using?

Thanks all

There is a known bug

This is precisely why I'm hoping to employ the services of someone who has the experience to perhaps work around any bugs.... It's just a matter of needing to know how much I may need to budget before going down that rabbit hole?
