XFtoWP - XenForo to WordPress integration

XFtoWP - XenForo to WordPress integration [Paid] 1.6.1

No permission to buy ($79.00)
This looked promising but the lack of updates and communication is the main reason I'm hesitant with 3rd party addons. Seems so risky to purchase.

If there any ability to pull in XF media gallery content into WP pages with this add-on, and is it being actively developed and supported?

Thank you!

I know @kolakube is too busy to answer, but I am still interested in this product. :)

It would be much appreciated if anyone could answer these:
  • Is this addon still compatible with XF 2.3?

  • Can users registered and authenticated through WP be immediately (or with a cronjob running every second or something) synced to XF so they will be logged in to both?

  • If yes, do installs need to be done on the same domain, or - for example - a subdomain can be used?

Thanks in advance! 🙇‍♂️

For some context... unfortunately, I must have a hybrid login workflow:

I couldn't achieve a Microsoft 365 (business/enterprise) SSO with XF 2.3, but it can be done easily with WP, so it seems I need to throw WP in the mix (and boy, WP suck as a "CMS" from day one, but it is what it is).

.

Yes, if I recall well 😁

You can use a subdomain or a totally different domain. Mine is on subdomain ;)

Don't know about the other ones 🤷‍♂️

Why cant contributers post with their own account in xenforo.

Please make it so that when a member wants to share it publicly in xenforo their username and blog numbers update.

and make a mod for this in xenforo for blog post to count as an addon in users info

Hi, @P2PLeon82 ; I tried really hard to decipher your message, but I can't.

the only means to post in a forum is by the admin, super admin by choice.

It would be good if a contributer from wp is allowed to post into forum and still have their username associated with it.

also creating a addon for xenforo to enable blog posts made on external site, namely subdomain or other, and have the blog criteria like Posts counted in xenforo from wordpress.

kolakube updated XFtoWP - XenForo to WordPress integration with a new update entry:

Maintenance release

XFtoWP 1.5.6 is now available for update from your WordPress admin panel! Visit your XFtoWP.com account to directly access your downloads.
  • Fix: Encoding issues that could prevent user registration when a special character is present in the email address (thank you for the tip @JustinHawk)
    • A similar change has been made to the WP users -> XF import process
  • Code readability/formatting...

Hi everybody, I apologize for my lack of communication and the uncertainty that has formed around XFtoWP as a result. The plugin continues to work well across any version of XenForo 2.2+ and recent versions of WordPress.

As for development, work has already been started to utilize some of the new concepts in XF2.3 as well as improving the existing features and import tools.

If you've posted to the XFtoWP support forums I have responded and will be actively monitoring the site to help you with further questions and discussion. I have some messages in this thread to respond to which I will begin shortly.

There are some fun things ahead for the future of this plugin, especially with some of the innovation coming out of the WordPress space lately. Stay tuned and thank you for supporting XFtoWP!

@kolakube is this product being actively supported? I noticed it's been since January for any updates, and a review says there's been no response to tickets. I hope you're OK.
Thank you for the kind words, and yes, the support has been missing but it is being turned back around now. I do believe XFtoWP can be bigger than just a third party addon and am eager to get the release cycles back on track, amongst other things. I wish you the best with any solution you may have gone to by now. :)

Yes, this is absolutely possible since XFtoWP already connects well to your site's REST API, but no direct Media Gallery features have been made at this time.

Heh, thank you for being polite.

Can users registered and authenticated through WP be immediately (or with a cronjob running every second or something) synced to XF so they will be logged in to both?
No cron jobs are used in the plugin, and apart from the Bulk importer, all user syncing happens on an as-needed basis. If you use WordPress as the point of registration, then yes, an identical account will be created over at XenForo and linked. There is another option that auto-redirects and logs the same user into XenForo so they don't have to login twice after regular login or registration, and can be limited to only do that once every X days.

If yes, do installs need to be done on the same domain, or - for example - a subdomain can be used?
You can sync across different domains or subdomains. For example, my support forum is connected to multiple WP sites that I own.

Yes, as of now ony the API user is able to make threads and posts from the plugin. That's why you'll often see API usernames as "Site Bot" to be a little more friendly to users. This has been suggested before so I will look into it for a minor feature release sooner rather than later.

Another idea is to connect any relevant threads your users have posted to your WP articles and using that as your comments section. It can be stale to just auto cross-post new articles to your forum and expect to start a discussion that way, and some users may see it as a reward to get featured on your blog.
