This looked promising but the lack of updates and communication is the main reason I'm hesitant with 3rd party addons. Seems so risky to purchase.
@kolakube is this product being actively supported? I noticed it's been since January for any updates, and a review says there's been no response to tickets. I hope you're OK.
Thank you for the kind words, and yes, the support has been missing but it is being turned back around now. I do believe XFtoWP can be bigger than just a third party addon and am eager to get the release cycles back on track, amongst other things. I wish you the best with any solution you may have gone to by now.
If there any ability to pull in XF media gallery content into WP pages with this add-on
Yes, this is absolutely possible since XFtoWP already connects well to your site's REST API, but no direct Media Gallery features have been made at this time.
I know @kolakube is too busy to answer, but I am still interested in this product.
Heh, thank you for being polite.
Can users registered and authenticated through WP be immediately (or with a cronjob running every second or something) synced to XF so they will be logged in to both?
No cron jobs are used in the plugin, and apart from the Bulk importer, all user syncing happens on an as-needed basis. If you use WordPress as the point of registration, then yes, an identical account will be created over at XenForo and linked. There is another option that auto-redirects and logs the same user into XenForo so they don't have to login twice after regular login or registration, and can be limited to only do that once every X days.
If yes, do installs need to be done on the same domain, or - for example - a subdomain can be used?
You can sync across different domains or subdomains. For example, my support forum is connected to multiple WP sites that I own.
Why cant contributers post with their own account in xenforo.
Please make it so that when a member wants to share it publicly in xenforo their username and blog numbers update.
the only means to post in a forum is by the admin, super admin by choice.
It would be good if a contributer from wp is allowed to post into forum and still have their username associated with it.
Yes, as of now ony the API user is able to make threads and posts from the plugin. That's why you'll often see API usernames as "Site Bot" to be a little more friendly to users. This has been suggested before so I will look into it for a minor feature release sooner rather than later.
Another idea is to connect any relevant threads your users have posted to your WP articles and using that as your comments section. It can be stale to just auto cross-post new articles to your forum and expect to start a discussion that way, and some users may see it as a reward to get featured on your blog.
