There's already an announcement thread for XF 2.4.If we were doing something like that it would probably just be some brief bullet points in the announcement thread. It wouldn’t be any significant detail.
That would be a good approach over dropping all the HYS at once and be the middle-ground that I read into.Xenforo 2.5 is announced with a preliminary release date of Q4 2025. It may include features such as:
- This
- May include
- May not include
- This 2
- This 3
- Could implement X over Y
- This 4
We linked to the popular suggestions in the suggestions forum.
Perhaps what Max would like is to be told that the next developments in XenForo will be on this or that major subject... for example we are going to review the moderation system, or the alert system will evolve, etc. his could make it possible to avoid investing in related add-ons. And it won't be so bad if XF's plans ultimately change, this will still have made it possible to avoid the risk of paying for something that will be implemented by the XF team.

It could also be a way to gather even more suggestions from what is proposed, which might not specifically be from the suggestions thread, to refine the feature before it's completely designed and before its release.
I had this custom developed for nodes, but it would be very much welcome for threads too. Please, a proper block/ignore function that allows users to customise what people and content they want to see.
The first step is to make it a suggestion, that's the best way to get features added.
The problem that you'll run into by having UGC (user generated content) display this way is consistency.Hello
I hope that the way the topic list is displayed is changed from the traditional way of forums and that topics are displayed as in content management and blogs and that it is possible to put thumbnails for the topic and have options to control the thumbnail

I hope that there is more than the traditional way of displaying forums
The problem that you'll run into by having UGC (user generated content) display this way is consistency.
One member will upload 400x600 image, another 150x500, another 1080x1080, and so on. You can only crop, resize and center so much before you're never going to have results like that unless you approve each post with the size that fits your style — that means making one before approving it if they used a 100x75 thumbnail.
That's debatable. I'd say the vast majority of existing forum users is used to "traditional" forum format and doesn't really like / want / need things to be entirely different - if you do things very different it won't be a Forum any longer. The traditional forum style has become a thing of the past and is no longer wanted, as no one participates in it due to its traditional design.
For example, my site is Arabic. That's debatable. I'd say the vast majority of existing forum users is used to "traditional" forum format and doesn't really like / want / need things to be entirely different - if you do things very different it won't be a Forum any longer.
Just like a newsgoup realistically can't become anything different than ... a newsgroup.
WordPress is generally managed by 1 person or a group of people on a mission that already carries out some type of unified uniformity for the site.WordPress always automatically crops thumbnails to a specific size, even if the size is different. This can be applied to forum software as well. The traditional forum style has become a thing of the past and is no longer wanted, as no one participates in it due to its traditional design.
You missed this part when you have 100s of members creating content. One member will upload 400x600 image, another 150x500, another 1080x1080, and so on.
Because I guarantee you somebody will upload a thumbnail size image that will be stretched as opposed to a large image that will be reduced in size to still look good.
My friend.. The presence of the avatar next to the topic also has no benefit, and often the member's picture will not be related to the topic title or the content within the topic. If it is removed, it will be better and more organized for the topics.WordPress is generally managed by 1 person or a group of people on a mission that already carries out some type of unified uniformity for the site.

They will use what they want. Not always what you tell them.
You can tell them the dimensions, but to ensure uniformity, you're going to have to turn off "post content without approval" to ensure uniformity and the users have respected your dimensions. You'll also have to double check, that if they haven't, it looks as clean as this:
Because I guarantee you somebody will upload a thumbnail size image that will be stretched as opposed to a large image that will be reduced in size to still look good.
Just to reiterate my point, inspect each one of those images and/or download them and tell me the dimensions. I'll bet they are all the same, or larger than the viewable ratio block to appropriately "crop" (center) with CSS. You're not going to get that with forum users because they don't care (as much as you) about how you want your site to look.
While this is a common and easy objection, this is a misleading objection when compared to society as a whole.I'd say the vast majority of existing forum users is used to "traditional" forum format and doesn't really like / want / need things to be entirely different - if you do things very different it won't be a Forum any longer.
