We have an Off Topic forum which is probably more appropriate to discuss the ideology of client management so please continue that discussion there.
This thread is for discussion about XF2.
XF 1.5 is currently leader product in it's market and doesn't need any urgent change.
Given the scope of the changes, there is probably another 6 months to 1.5 years of development time before they have a releasable alpha/beta.Sure, it's nearer than it was two years ago.
"The proof of the pudding is in the eating."It's my understanding that XenForo 2.0 is a complete rewrite, not some half baked "refactoring" that another forum brand is doing.
Assuming my understanding is correct,

There are only assumings for a long time.
I assume it's something like Twig. Quote from http://twig.sensiolabs.org/doc/templates.html@Chris D What is the reason for using double brackets ({{ .... }}) in XF 2.0 template syntax (for phrases and if statements)?
There are two kinds of delimiters: {% ... %} and {{ ... }}. The first one is used to execute statements such as for-loops, the latter prints the result of an expression to the template.
{{ $thread.thread_id ? phrase('edit_thread') : phrase('create_thread') }}
{xen:if '{$thread.thread_id}', '{xen:phrase edit_thread}', '{xen:phrase create_thread}'}
That would make sense since Symfony has already been mentioned in this thread.I assume it's something like Twig. Quote from http://twig.sensiolabs.org/doc/templates.html

{{ $thing.id ? phrase('edit') . ': ' . $thing.title : phrase('create') . ' ' . 2 + 2 }}
