Idid view the beta version - the light box feature is awesome, will there be a "clickable" picture option, in other words, click the image to go to the next image?

It already does that in the lightbox, as well as has arrows to move to previous /next images. Arrow keys on your keyboard can also be used. Of course, there have to be other images in that category or album for this to function.

XMG 2.0 will not create images of different sizes but will use CSS to resize the images to make them fit onto the page.
This is not entirely correct.

XMG does create multiple copies of the images in some cases.

For example each image could have two versions. The first would be the original unedited image, the second would be the watermarked version. Of course if you don't use the watermarking feature, then only one version of the image would be stored.

Overall disk space could be lower, though, than other Gallery products. You can restrict the file size on a per usergroup basis. You can also impose maximum image width/heights on a per usergroup basis. For example if you decide that the maximum width of photos in your gallery should be 1024 x 768 then during upload, the image would be resized so it is a maximum of those dimensions.

I do have to say, though, if you are hitting disk space limits, maybe you should pay for the amount of disk space you need rather than switching gallery products. All you're doing is limiting your own scope for expansion if you're already hitting disk space limits.

With my old forum (Vbulletin) I had never had an issue with disc space and my forum has thousand of images, the difference, I think is the option to resize all images automatically with the old VB gallery (add on of course in 3.8) , I have been forced to use large picture sizes with Xengallery to accommodate members who are not digitally savvy with resizing images, many complaints and frustration to where, in fact, I hardly get members even using my current gallery...

Hey guys,

Can you please drop me a PM here or at http://xenmediagallery.com if you own a Xen Media Gallery license, have access to [XFR] User Albums and you are willing to test out some import stuff.

Thanks,

Chris

I'd love to help out testing that part but although I have the useralbums it's completely empty now, I've wiped it out. I do still have photopost though in case you want to try that in the future. (and sonbb xengallery too)

All custom styles may need a little customising for various add-ons. That was true of the old version too.

The style by @Audentio looks great with the gallery but it does need a few adjustments to look perfect and while beta testing it just made sense to show it how it was designed to look and I haven't quite had time to make some of the changes because I'm focusing all my energy on getting the gallery release ready and getting importers written etc.

Also I've not added new style properties yet to the gallery to cater for the changes and new stuff in this new version.

Today I completed the first importer for Xen Media Gallery.

It imports albums, images and comments from [xfr] User Albums into Xen Media Gallery.

At the same time I decided to look at 301 redirects from one to the other and what I decided to do was make this into a sort of internal framework that can be reused over different Galleries.

Certainly I will be able to re-use it for XenGallery and Xen Medio. The other galleries from other platforms may require additional work.

But either way it's a great start.

Once you complete the import, you must save your import log. You should do this whether you retain IDs or not.

You then need to set it up in the options:

upload_2013-12-31_0-24-11.webp

Once you enable the redirection, XFR User Albums is automatically disabled and a special route filter is enabled which effectively impersonates the original useralbums route.

If you have ever changed the useralbums route to something else, e.g. gallery, you can simply change the route filter accordingly.

However, most of the technical details are irrelevant. Once enabled, a URL such as:

http://xenmediagallery.com/useralbums/my-album-of-gta-v-images.1/view

Will redirect automatically to:

http://xenmediagallery.com/media/albums/my-album-of-gta-v-images.7

Notice in that example the album IDs haven't been retained? The correct album ID is ascertained from the import log :)

Looking forward to a vB 4 importer. We have two sites now that can't move to xenForo until we can carry the albums over.

It might come sooner than you'd think. It probably won't be 2.0. But very soon after.

What I could do with is a vB4 license to play around with. I bet you have spares from the sites you've transferred over to XF?
