What would be a showstopper for you during purchase, if you could get a copy -right now-, in regards to add-ons? Compared to other BBS solutions or what you are using right now?

Perhaps 'require' isn't the correct word for me to use. 'Desperately Hope for' is more like it.

A smiley system much like *choke* vB's *recover*, where you can categorize your smilies, then adjust in what order they will appear in that category.
Also adjust what order the categories will appear.

In case no one has noticed, I'm a smiley addict. I love my smiles, have hundreds of them. I like to use them all, and like them categorized and ordered.
That way if I want an irritated smiley, I can go to the correct category to get it, rather than having to scroll through hundreds of smilies to find it, and probably miss it the first 2-3 times.

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAASE!!!

Agreed... for sure.

I would say what is really required is an enthused community wanting to support the software, which we already have :)

Personally, I'll be developing a 'credits/cash' system. The ones for vB were confusing. For example there were TWO 'vbCredits' systems by different authors, who hated each other!

At the moment PixelFX has nabbed 'xfcredits.com' so we know what he'll be up to ;)

I'd also require a feature of multi checkbox selection which I really missed from vBulletin.
Click a checkbox, then Ctrl+Shift+Click the fifth one. All the checkboxes between them are toggled respectively.
Now that I said that, we need labels instead of folders!

(gmail screenshot note: i clicked the fourth after first)

I would not mind being in my admin area and going to applications, click on search and see the last 5 added, the 5 most popular (based on rating and downloads and views averages), and upon search, get up to 5 results (with link to more). Click on one for a popup with details about info, descirption, version support, and license info (like, free, paid, upgrade only, special license). And if you like it, click on install, and it will install it for you.

Wordpress does a good job with automated stuff like this, and with sftp on vps/dedicated it's basically 100% success ..

The results for this can be taken from a cache, which is made once a day based on the content of the xenforo.com/applications/ or the node.applications section where the mods are.

That's how I am thinking of it, and hoping for.

Good question, Floris.

I am unable to purchase this (yet), as it doesn't come with:

- Integrated Blogs.
- Integrated CMS.

This was the reason for me to buy vB4 in the presale (in the hope that we would get a great CMS and improved Blogs and Forums, but we all know how that turned out). I seriously need those two additions. I mean, vb3.8 already had Blogs, so for me (and from a bussiness point of view for Kier&Mike I would think) it would be natural that XenForo will offer Blogs in the future (and an importer to make the transistion from vBulletin 3 or 4 easy). However, the integrated Blogs are more important then the CMS for me at this point in time.

Further, I have been suggesting an Instant Messenger/Chat (like Facebook) for so long to vBulletin. In my view this is a KEY element in being able to offer a true social platform where people want to come back to/be involved in. Attracting visitors and let them come back is a big priority for our platform, obviously.

I understand, but please realize that alpha one shows nothing of a cms/blog and is mainly a forum product. I can not see cms/blog appear in 1.0.x
Does not mean it won't get introduced in 1.1, 1.5, or 2.0 of course. We simply don't know until something concrete shows up in a roadmap.

I've already showed the main developer of my latest project this, and we're hoping to either fully integrate our media portal into it, or to build our media portal on-top of this. Not sure the media portal would be released however, though it might be if its built as a mod for XenForo.

Biggest issue?
Galleries. Integrated. Fully. or GIF if you prefer ;)

People are posting images alllllll the time now esp now that soooo many have a camera phone. Forums really should get with the times and realize that images are just as much a part of User Generated Content as text posts.

All images should be in a central gallery, categorized and searchable. They should show up in the search results (as Photoplog does now for vB). A member should be able to EASILY upload, organize and reuse their images in any content they create in the system by simply dropping them into their posts (again see the Photoplog popup for dropping your images into your posts). You should be able to bring up images from a given user as well as images by category.

We have a highly customized gallery system based on Photoplog (see http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/ikea...ain-wire-assembly-instructions-annotated.html for an example) that lets you add "notes" for sections of images and spawns posts for that note in the thread that an image set is a part of.

If someone sees an image that they want to ask a question about, they can spawn a thread (with the image owner as the OP) to ask their question and the thread will be created in the forum associated with the image's gallery.

Images are VERY important! Almost nobody has done a good job of actually *integrating* galleries with a forum system, and it can be a huge benefit to the membership if it's done right. Google also LOVES a good image gallery and will send you quite a bit of traffic if it's setup right.

Picture/media/file galleries have always been an afterthought in existing systems, and that's a major shame. Every time I see an image as an attached file instead of in a searchable reusable gallery I cry inside for the lost opportunity.

I wonder which communities have so much content that is only available as images?

Why not have a custom database cms where you can store
- field 1
- field 2
- field 3

and where field 1 can be set from you - the admin - as uploaded picture, field 2 is the rating from 1 - 10 and field 3 is the optional comment. That's it. A gallery? A database.

I don't think a "Twitter" type app' is the same, unless you have a different idea to me.

I mean a chatbox which all members are logged in to when they're logged in to the forum which supports BBCode, quoting, etc. and the normal forum moderators can delete messages from

Essentially like a "live" forum.

If that's not available then I guess something like http://www.coveritlive.com/ would have to do.

That's why I said picture/media/file galleries :). The big thing is that it be centralized, searchable and that members are able to sort (albums or whatever you want to call your containers) their uploads and reuse them. Uploading files as attachments is a nearly criminal waste of content. Not to mention bandwidth and storage, esp when members upload the same file repeatedly! I'm TOTALLY onboard with making it a multi-purpose database. I always prefer multi-purpose system to specific case specialists. The big thing is it needs to be well integrated, not an afterthought. :)

I do not know exactly what you mean, so you are right I think. My idea is this:

user Joh>I ate breakfast
user Marcus > Happy meal

Both messages are some kind of "tweet". You want bbcode? quoting? Okay. That could be done by this

Your tweet:____________ (x) tweet also on Twitter

So when you tweet your forum only, disable this. When you reuse this tweet to twitter, too, click on (x).

Easy integration.

Yes! Exactly my thoughts. You should also have query multi-databases. One database with pictures. Another database with places. Connect place - picture databases. Have a database with your forum topic ("Hamburger forum"). Connect hamburger - place - picture. Have a database from your users, what do they like. Connect that, too. Wow.

Much more, than a stupid gallery. This is way more intelligent.

Sorry Marcus but I have no idea what you mean.

I just want a chatbox which is integrated to the forum, nothing to do with Twitter.

In that case, imagine a shoutbox
Your message:_______________
in your forum. And everytime someone "shouts", the message appears. Like in IPB on the right side.

For me - I see its use when I restrict the shouts - to my friends - to other people I talk in the forum regularly.
