Just tried installing this and got this error. Not sure where I've gone wrong, all files have been uploaded.

I'm still testing it, hence why I haven't announced about this update.

Please use v1.6.0 for now.

rellect updated [rellect] AdBlock Detector with a new update entry:

v1.6.1

Few important changes in this update

1. Fresh installation no longer will add permissions for admins to bypass the adblock detection. Based on feedback, I've noticed this is mostly confusing for the first time, as the detection alert is not shown for admins. The necessary permissions will need to be set manually from now.
   Note: this is only applies to new installation, if you upgrade from older version, your permissions will stay the same.

This has always worked perfectly for me but since upgrading from 1.6.0 to 1.6.1, I can't get any Alert Type to show. I've tested using Adblock with Google Chrome. See here

Any ideas?

I can see the notice in your site


Make sure your user should see the alert and isn't excluded by the permissions.
Another thing to check is that the adblocker is active (and not temporarily disabled, which is a common case in these situations) and the domain isn't whitelisted in the settings.

Well, this is embarrassing! It never used to exclude admins but suddenly it did - it's now showing perfect, as always.

My Guest user can't Dismiss alerts but the Close button is still there, but not functioning.
I think it should be hidden for user's that can't Dismiss alerts.

The close button shouldn't be visible if dismiss is disallowed.

Seems like I forgot to add the condition to remove the button when I moved the notice into the JS file (previously it was stored in the templates system).
I've uploaded v1.6.2 beta to fix this.

The main purpose of this addon is to make people aware of the implications of using an adblock.
When they understand that without the income of ads the site won't be able to keep running, they may think again about using adblock.
From the feedback I receive privately, most of the sites starts to see increasement in ads revenue within few days. Depends how big and active the site is.

If you think this may be annoying for some users, there are many options to configure to make sure it's not too aggressive. Including:
1. Different variety of alerts, some friendlier and some less.
2. You can exclude usergroups, some sites prefer to show the alert only to guests.
3. You can exclude pages, for example, the alert won't be shown in the registration page.

I don't see the close button in the notice, so I guess it's okay

@rellect, do the updates come via email? Reason I ask is that I've been checking my paypal linked account and my others, and haven't seen hide nor hair of the update. I figured in 12 hours it would have been delivered if coming via email.

Hey,

The service I'm using to manage the orders (FetchApp) has delays in the mailing system.
I'm looking for alternatives as that annoys me as well.

What I can suggest until the mail will be finally sent is to find a previous mail and use the download link from there, the download link is always the same per order.

Anyone who has troubles finding it, please contact me with the email address you've purchased with and I'll send you your download link.

Fetch App seems pretty pricey to me. Why not use Google Apps? (I get it's not same but at least e-mails will be on the clock like Japanese trains! )

Not exactly what I'm looking for.

All these services takes fees per transaction.

I think I'll just write my own system to manage orders..

http://pulleyapp.com is the only other one I know which doesn't take fees.
