Yes, we changed it to show the title and the primary replacement text. Not 100% sure I like it doing that though. The "Cool" smilie is not perfect in the announcement. It says "Cool: "

Losing the colon probably works, but I think it is of definite value to show people how to type the text for the smilie they want. (This is exactly what Skype does, BTW.)
Fully agree - showing the code to type is very useful.but I think it is of definite value to show people how to type the text for the smilie they want.

I still use Skype 2.8 on my Mac. The new Skype UI is horrendous.Offtopic, but I always think that Skype (the desktop application as it is on Windows) has just a horrible UI. Really quite terrible, which is amazing for me for a application that is used by so many.

It's of value to people who actually type the smilies. I agree with that. (Don't they already know what to type?) For those who pick it from the list though... Frankly, I thought it was an error at first.
They will only see the text if they hover over the smilie for more than a second or so.
Surely that's not going to be an issue for anyone?
They are.
This for me is far more important than knowing the meaning of the smilies I posted myself. Why do my users need to see tooltips on smilies that were posted by others
I misread you, and was responding as though you were debating the worth of the smiley tooltips in general, hence why I have subsequently deleted my post.I don't see them. If they are there, then my feedback is not valid anymore, but as I said... my feedback is based on the fact that I do not see the codes inside the smilies dropdown, where Iexpect them.

I already know what they mean, I posted them.
I want to know what the other person was trying to convey if it's not immediately obvious from the smiley itself.

That raises the question if it's handy in the first place to include smilies in a product that are difficult to understand. Yes, with the inclusion of these new smilies in XenForo the meaning of some of them is unknown/not recognizable anymore... so the need of tooltips (thatare luckily included in the smilies dropdown) becomes bigger.

Oh, I see... Hmm, I think it's better to just show the title, not the replacement text. People will start to wonder what the heck that is after the title.
