FAQ Manager by Iversia 3.2.0

No permission to download
Hello,
I have read this entire thread and first of all I want to say a huge thank you for releasing this add-on to us and for FREE no less..
Thank you!

I do have a question, I would like to hide the FAQ tab using conditionals (hide from guests) but I can't find it in the nav templates..
I'd appreciate any advice as to where the code lies and how I can adjust it for guests?
I can hide the nav's created after making FAQ's, but I would also like to hide the tab completely to guests, but can't find it anywhere.
Thank you!

@Iversia, please add in next release window for confirm delete FAQ question. :(
My moderators just click on "Delete Question" and questions was deleted WITHOUT confirm window! I'm shocked! :eek::mad:o_O

+1 - it needs confirmation. I actually deleted one of my own FAQ's which was a big one too, was well gutted when I realised what I'd done.. :(

EDIT;
I've done it by adding a conditional to the;
extra tabs: middle
It hides other tabs but that suits me really..

@Sgreefers Looks like you got it!

For any folks in the future, this sort of thing usually means one of two possible things: either the slide down option has not been enabled, or you failed to upload the FAQ JavaScript file to the right directory.

Hi Iversia,

Yup I got it, apparently when I took out the code for Xenforo's menubar dropdown, it messed up the whole forum's js file. Thus your faq's js files got affected as well.

i really like having 'help' in the nav bar (and url) instead of 'faq'. is there a way to make this plugin appear as 'help' in the nav bar and in the url?

I can't find the phrase to alter "Message" in the moderation notice.

It would be better if it said "Answer" or "Add the answer here" to make it clear for mods.

Is there a way to do that?

@TheLaw Individual question pages do have canonical links. Tags have not been added as they are a 1.5 feature, and 1.5 is still in beta.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm talking about the head tags that you call "links". Every page should have a canonical entry so that a search engine knows how to index a page - or not index a page. If you are going to have content duplication (which hides text as well) and have individual pages with text, you'd probably want to index one or the other and have the ability to control this and generate either a noindex or a canonical tag. Otherwise I'd display the data another way, perhaps more like a traditional knowledgebase.

My comments are just in the spirit of trying to do what I feel are good practices and sharing these thoughts with you for what is a really nice plugin. Opinions will vary but I think it is a consistent suggestion.

@TheLaw I know what a canonical link is and the individual question pages have them already (added in version 3.1.0). So unless you're referring to some of the various FAQ index display views, I'm not quite sure what you're talking about.

Look at the main page for the FAQ. There should be a directive there. If the page is to be index it should be canonicalized. If the page isn't meant to be indexed (and has duplicate content of every individual page) there should probably be an option to noindex that main faq page.

If you're really concerned about duplicate content, in the FAQ options, change your Question Click Action to "Click Through (New Page)" and/or change your FAQ Layout to "Question Columns."

Additionally ensure that "Questions" is checked (it should already be), in XenForo's default XML Sitemap Generation.

Great - didn't realize that this option was available and prefer to use either of those methods. Thanks for the quick replies.

Anyone else get an error when trying to put the BBCode in a post? It won't let me commit it. Xenforo 1.4.10

Quick question.

In my theme the edit FAQ panel doesn't come up. Do you by chance have the URL to this?

/support/editfaq
/support/editkb

Not sure what it is.

Not quite sure what your question is exactly. Neither of those URLs are from this add-on. Make sure that you have set the group permissions in order to edit the FAQ. Otherwise the edit options won't show up at all.

No worries. I edited it in SQL so all set.
