We hope soon. Doing some additional testing this weekend. We are moving our demo installation into a subfolder to demonstrate this.

Hi I have a little problem with this great addon. When promoting a thread to the portal I set the option to use the attachment picture in portal. Two times it worked for the third post it doesn't First I thought I have forgotten to set the options to use the image, so I deleted the thtread and did it again - but still no picture at the portal page.
Any suggestions what I did wrong?

Aber der Reihe nach...</p><p><br></p><p><font style="font-size: 18px;"><b><u>Die Optik</u></b></font></p><p>Ihr könnt es ja auf dem Bild selbst sehen, die <a href="http://www.elgato.com/de/gaming/game-capture-hd" target="_blank" class="externalLink" rel="nofollow">Elgato game capture HD</a> sieht einfach edel aus und fühl sich auch sehr wertig an. Es gibt insgesamt an jeder Seite genau zwei Anschlüsse. Auf der einen Seite einen <i>HDMI In</i> und einen <i>A/V In</i> auf der anderen Seite einen <i>HDMI Out</i> und einen <i>USB 2</i> Anschluss. Über die bereits im Lieferumfang enthaltenen Adapterkabel lassen sich so schnell und einfach viele Konsolen anschließen. Dabei lässt sich die XBOX 360 direkt an den HDMI In anschließen während die Playstation 3 durch die Verschlüsselung bei Blueray per Adpater an den A/V In angeschlossen werden muss. Alles aber einfach, schnell und unproblematisch.</p><p><br></p><p><b><u><font style="font-size: 18px;">Handling</font></u></b></p><p>Die <a href="http://www.elgato.com/de/gaming/game-capture-hd" target="_blank" class="externalLink" rel="nofollow">Elgato game capture HD</a> wird zwischen die Konsole und den Fernseher gesetzt. Von dort wird das Signal quasi verteilt. Einmal durch ein sogenanntes <i>pass-through</i> von dem <i>HDMI In</i> direkt an den <i>HDMI Out</i> zum Fernseher - so kommt das Bild <i>ohne zeitlichen Versatz</i> am Fernseher an - als wäre die Konsole direkt daran angeschlossen und dann noch per USB 2 an den Computer oder Mac. Hier gibt es einen zeitlichen Versatz da die game capture HD dabei noch das Video gleich encodiert und komprimiert und erst danach an den Rechner sendet. Das spart dann gleichzeitig auch noch viel Speicherplatz.</p><p><br></p><p>Dabei kann als Quelle aber nicht nur Konsolen wie XBOX 360 und Playstation 3 dienen, sondern auch ganz andere Quellen. Ich habe bereits folgende Quellen erfolgreich getestet:</p><ul><li>XBOX 360</li><li>Playstation 3</li><li>iMac</li><li>S-NES</li><li>WII</li><li>WII U</li><li>iPad</li></ul><p>Somit lässt sich diese Capture-Hardware sehr universell zum Aufnehmen einsetzen und macht sich damit gleich mehrfach bezahlt. Gerade als ich noch meine Let's Play auf dem Mac gemacht habe. Da es auf dem Mac keine Software wie <a href="http://www.fraps.com/" target="_blank" class="externalLink" rel="nofollow">FRAPS</a> oder <a href="http://exkode.com/dxtory-features-en.html" target="_blank" class="externalLink" rel="nofollow">DXTory</a> gibt, waren Aufnahmen nur schwer machbar, und wenn dann nur mit sehr viel Power und ruckeln. Dank der game capture HD lässt sich nun auch am iMac (jeden Mac mit HDMI Out) einfach Aufnehmen - und das ganze ohne spürbaren Einfluss auf die Performance im Spiel.</p><p><br></p><p><b><u><font style="font-size: 18px;">Fazit</font></u></b></p><p>insgesamt bin ich mit dem Kauf der <a href="http://www.elgato.com/de/gaming/game-capture-hd" target="_blank" class="externalLink" rel="nofollow">Elgato game capture HD</a> sehr zufrieden und würden diesen Einkauf auch immer wieder machen. Das System lässt sich einfach handeln und die beiliegende Software ist gut zu bedienen. I think that's going to hurt adoption somewhat. People running xenporta and thinking of switching will install this, see that it breaks things and uninstall it.
At least a warning that it overwrites the xenporta route would be a good idea.

This works only for inline attachments ATM. If your post doesn't include any inline attachments, it can't associate any attachment.
This will get a massive overhaul in the next release.

Thx for the information, i will try to reproduce i, but it's probably not worth to search for this bug, because the whole image/attachment process will be improved massive in the next release and the code, which was probably causing the bug, will be removed in 1.2.0
Instead of the first inline attachment, you'll be able to select any attachment from the promoted content.

I've finally got around to installing this on my dev site to see if I can use it as a replacement to XenPorta.
A few things:

- I have Use as Newspage checked. However, it is puttin stuff I've promoted on the portal in the order I've promoted them, not by date order. Am I missing something or is this a bug?
- I would like to display attachments in their correct position on the post on the portal page, just as I can do with XenPorta. However I can't seem to do that, the only options appear to be to display as a smaller version at the top left/right of the post or not at all. Is there any way I can achieve what I am after?
- Is there a way to get the menu links (New Posts, Recent Posts, Watched Forums etc) on the portal page?

That's not possible ATM.
I don't remember why , but they where removed intentionally. (maybe it's worth to change this)

How exactly are you wanting to display the attachments? Doesn't xenporta just display either the authors avatar or first attachment also?

What would be ideal (and this is something that XenPorta does) is to have the option with each post to specify the promotion date. The default date would be the current date but you could alter this. This would mean that you could easily promote old threads to the top of the portal as well as new threads. Also it would allow you to promote a thread in advance and it wouldn't show up until the specified date.
Here's a screenshot of the XenPorta options for promotion:
XenPorta has various options (see above). The promotion icon is either your avatar or one of the attached files which is similar to Extra Portal. However you can also have no promotion icon.
However, what XenPorta allows you to do is display attachments in their correct positions in the post on the portal i.e. it doesn't remove them like Extra Portal does. You can see this on my site (see link in my signature).

We're removing them ATM, because we wanted to have the attachment optional as promotion attachment / no promotion attachment
In ExtraPortal 1.2 you'll be able to select the attachment (in Simple Portal and Extra Portal 1.1.x it's always the first inline attachment), but we'll also consider to make the removing of the inline attachments optional.

The portal is really just a preview of things promoted from the forums, as I'm sure you know. Trying to display the large attachments and videos really makes things look like a mess IMO and is why we are looking at placeholders for attachments and videos. Everything looks cleaner, consistent and allows more content to be displayed on the portal page. Your trying to get this portal to be like xenPorta which it is not, and with how people with larger boards complain of performance with xenPorta there needs to be a line drawn in what options are used and displayed.

Yes, it is a preview but IMO it looks nicer to be able to have a full image or video included in the preview content on the portal page than just a small version in the top corner of the page. In fact, not being able to display full images or videos can make the portal page a bit text heavy and dull.
I don't think the presentation I have on my site using XenPorta looks cluttered with it displaying one full image or video in most posts.
