Calendar

Calendar 6.1

No permission to download
There's been a few updates, and I'm not sure I could follow how the permissions works. To clarify;

Anyone in the usergroup with the above can add or remove to calendar in any threads on the entire board? So a malicious user in the usergroup could go through and remove all events from the calendar, regardless of if they were the OP for the thread or not? Or can only the author of a thread, who is in the above permission group, add the calendar entry? And then moderators cannot remove it?

If the above is correct, any thoughts of splitting the permission out into separate add and remove permissions, so you can grant add rights to your members, but only moderators have remove rights.

Hey Andy, question for you... If you are able to submit calendar events to threads in forums I imagine you should be able to display the upcoming events that are posted only in that forum, right? So Forum Home would list all events in all forums but the specific forums where events are posted would have only their own events. Can that be added?

Would you also be able to add in the ability to enable/disable the calendar on a per-forum basis?

Looks great.

I like the Today's Calendar Events reminder.

I would probably prefer this in the same location, but with the option to Dismiss it.
Maybe the event could be embedded in a dismiss-able notice ? That way I could click the [x] when I didnt want to see it all day long :)

As with most calendars ... they are usually empty.
It's sad to see empty calendars.

The solution is usually a paginated agenda view....

Month
Event 1
Event 2
Month + 1
Event 2
Month + 2
Event 3

etc.

:)

I think when users start seeing Upcoming Events lists scattered throughout the forum (especially in a regional/local based forum or sub-forum) they'll start adding their own events. The calendar view alone doesn't always garner much interest unless it's cross merchandised in the forums. I like the way Andy's built the simple display for the forum home page. I think if he adds a few more display options like that for other areas (like I suggested above) and maybe make a few widgets that are compatible with the Widget Framework, or just part of this plugin, it will really make it so the end user starts using it.

@AndyB

1. I would like to help you with the spanish translation. What is it that I have to do?

2. About "Today" events that are displayed in the home page, it would be better to offer the option to set the number of days and not just today.
In my case for example, all the events are early in the morning and sometimes you have to drive for a couple of hours, so when somebody sees "Today" events, it's already to late, so it ends up beign pointless.

3. Threads awaiting moderation show up in Today events and in the Calendar.
They should be approved before they show up.

Hey does anyone have a custom styling for this calendar events on forum list that will allow it to show while on Responsive?

When a calendar event is on the forum list, it causes an issue for guests where they can't even see the forum list without having to click a link to refresh. Because of that I've hid the calendar events from guests.

@AndyB I'm using your calendar in my forum. :)

I think it would be a good idea to:

Add permissions per node, so an event could be added or removed in specific nodes.
Show the Calendar link to guests, but not the Calendar itself, and ask them to sign in or register to be able to see it.

Is there any way to have multiple calendars with this addon? I want to have a few forums, each for a different group, and have each one have its own calendar.

Is there any way that calendar entries could be exported for importation into another calendar app? I realise that the calendar is just linking to threads with a date range but maybe it could be set up to export the first post's text in the body and saved as an all-day event? Members have asked about the ability to export items without having to cut and paste them into their own calendars.

1) Added an option to Export calendar entries to a personal calendar.

To upgrade from v2.6, copy the Calendar folder to your server and use the upgrade button in your Admin CP. The follow the instructions in the Overview (Setup:) to copy the vcalendar.php file to the correct location on your server.

Do I need that file if I didn't want to export to anywhere?
