They would benefit more from contractors they can contract on demand to say work for a few days debugging X feature and finding the cause of X bug.
Why is it hard for devs to just communicate and humbly say that the original date/timelines proposed are now pushed back due to X reason? That’s just something that’s always kept me wondering which does more damage than good when talking this long of durations.I think the XF developers are a little gun-shy on giving dates/timelines currently. They've given some and been roasted to a well-done state when those didn't pan out.
Yeah I guess I figured there would be more of a specific communication stream - or reasoning posted. The answers I’ve seen in random threads are kind of “general answers” that constantly keep the community guessing of what’s actually going on.Once in awhile they do but they get buried as replies in these actual complaint threads. There is never anything official or in an official area.
I agree. The lack of communication can be frustrating, but it can also be exciting. Look at Apple, the only teaser they got is their invitation. It would be fun if the creatives at XF could create something similar.
But what frustrates me most is the communication of some staff members. Some staff members have a certain way of.. replying, in a very short and cold way. I completely understand they have tons of comments to reply to, but a little more friendly would be a level-up to their communication style.
I actually asked them via a support ticket just yesterday.I have been following this thread since I started posting my own reply and opinion over here back in September 2022.

I also want to give another shout-out to @sbj who made the following post (which has been closed, wonder why tho).

Current state of XF and the participation of the XF Team
Hello, I am concerned about the current state of XenForo and I am starting this topic to see if I am overreacting or if my concern has some merit to it. I always try to be helpful, supportive and positive on here. So the last thing I want to do is to start a drama. On other sites I have a more...xenforo.com
Some of you guys might want to have a look at it. The data is probably outdated by now, but it has some solid points.
I stick to the fact that XenForo should be more open about the current development of XF 2.3.
In the beginning we all, staff included, made some fun of the development progress... but I am actually happy to see that other customers now also start asking questions about the "real" status of the development and what to expect.
We're obviously not asking for the full change log, because there should also be some surprises that create that "wow" effect, but some communication would be nice to receive, just to know what direction we're going to.
Did you really open a support ticket for this?I actually asked them via a support ticket just yesterday.
Once up they will post about it in the announcement and hys boards.
I thought everybody hadDid you really open a support ticket for this?
I've been authorised to tell you it will be here soon.
Yeah you're right, I should make another update in my community as well. It's mostly guilt and thinking I'll get another update out soon. I really don't know what to tell my community members when I can't even meet my own goals. Why is it hard for devs to just communicate and humbly say that the original date/timelines proposed are now pushed back due to X reason?
