Introducing Forum Runner for the iPhone/iPad/Android!

http://www.forumrunner.com

What is Forum Runner?

Forum Runner is a XenForo add-on that allows your users to browse your forum using a native Android/iPhone/iPad client. This means faster access for those users since it only downloads the actual forum information rather than all the extraneous images that slow down the mobile connection.

Forum Runner now supports the iPad natively! Download the Forum Runner app once and support both iPhone and iPad versions in one universal app!

Forum Runner is FREE for forum owners to install, and takes less than 5 minutes. The client for the iPhone/iPad/Android costs 1.99$ which is LESS THAN THE COMPETITORS, and has more features. Please see the list below for full information on Forum Runner's features.

Forum Runner inherits all the security built into XenForo, so users running Forum Runner will only be able to see the same forums and threads as they could using a regular browser.

Forum Runner Feature List
  • Native Android/iPad/iPhone support
  • iOS 4 multitasking support
  • Browse your favorite forums in an easy-to-use-interface with multiple notification types (private message, subscription, etc)
  • Fully customizable home screen with your favorite forums

  • Full support for private messages and private message folders
  • Full support for thread subscriptions - track your favorite threads and be updated via push when they have new posts!
Forum Runner currently supports vBulletin 3.6.x, 3.7.x, 3.8.x and 4.0.x, phpBB 3.0.x, and XenForo 1.0.x. We are adding support for other mobile phones as well as forum software.

There is a Free version available in the iTunes App Store and Google Market as well which allows your users to try out Forum Runner before making a decision to buy it. It has all the features of the full version except that it does not have the ability to post threads and a few other differences which are outlined on http://www.forumrunner.com.

This is the first release, so please let me know any and all issues with this add-on! I expect there to be many updates up front as I track down and fix bugs, so please keep the add-on up to date. :-)

Would it be possible to purchase the branding option but make it only available to members who're in our donators/supporters member group (so effectively passing on some of the costs to the members)? I don't think your competitors allow that but wasn't sure if you did.

Also I know it's too soon but once you get people buying the branded option could you please keep this thread updated with a list to some examples?

I just had a very cursory glance over the code and it looks like this is a well-written XenForo add-on, properly making use of the XenForo framework. Nice job.

I've written this add-on for many forum types and XenForo was by far the easiest to write it for. The way you guys have written the software makes it VERY easy to write add-on code to extend it. I was extremely impressed at the amount of time you spent on the add-on extensibility in the Admin Control Panel. Adding options was so easy compared to vB and phpBB!

Yep. Good idea. I can add support to only allow certain usergroups (whitelist) access through the app with a customized message if you are declined access. Good idea!

Funny you should say that every developer I've spoken to have said basically the same thing.

That said, this looks like an add-on I'll be using after I pinch my husbands mobile (where's mine I hear you ask) I dropped it in a mug of hot coffee. That said, Nice job and really looking forward in seeing this one progressing.

I use a few of those apps already and they work great :-)

I just meant it'd be nice to have a few examples using XenForo once they're available (or maybe just make it obvious on your branding page which software they're running)

That must have either been a large mug or a small phone! Either way.... ouch! :)

Sure! Would you want push notification support for alerts? Or just in-app?

both, and the option to turn on and off push for alerts is best!

i have had people write some mods to take advantage of the alert system. this is pretty much badass if this works. kicks tapatalk's butt!

Isn't Nokia going Windows 7? :) No plans for Symbian unfortunately. Next up for support is Blackberry.
I'm watching this closely (Blackberry development). Do you have any timeline for it?
What are the benefit of using this on BB? It does not have Push like iPhone/android as far as I know.

And is there a minimum OS for BB like at least OS 5?
