XFtoWP - XenForo to WordPress integration

XFtoWP - XenForo to WordPress integration [Paid] 1.6.3

No permission to buy ($79.00)
We’ve purchased the plugin and have hit a roadblock with how it works. Our old plugin was set up to take a post made in WordPress and automatically push it to XenForo as a brand-new thread each time, which was exactly what we needed.

That plugin is now outdated and no longer works with XF 2.x, so we needed a modern replacement. We were advised that XFtoWP could handle this, but I can’t find any clear instructions on how to achieve it. At the moment, we can only map a post to an existing thread ID, which isn’t what we want. That approach disrupts our workflow and breaks the process we rely on to publish news to our website.

On top of that, our old plugin also allowed us to sync a small number of users between WordPress and XenForo for editor access. This doesn’t seem to be possible with XFtoWP either, unless I’ve missed something and in the instructions the WebHook functionality doesnt translate for sending content from WP to XF.

In our scenario Wordpress is at root and XF is at /forums but the website is linked to show XF as the frontend and then articles written in WP are pulled to the XF side.

Can't you just use an old-school full-text RSS feed to a new thread for that?

I'm not sure that would work because we use very feature rich article styles and imagery with back links and shortcodes etc that are directly integrated between the platforms using the existing API service and its associated plugins.

Does anyone know if this is still an active product, or if @kolakube is okay? We've just done a complete revamp of our WordPress side and I am interested in buying this as a solution to sync registrations/users from WP->XF and XF->WP. Ideally, I'd also like to be able to make posts on XF that appear in our WP....

It seems like what I want is possible, but I am afraid to buy it when it looks like the developer has been MIA for a bit, and has not made recent comments here or on their official development and support site. :(

Hope he's doing OK.

Hi @captainmatt29, thank you for your purchase!

In case you missed it, check out the documentation section on the website:

XFtoWP allows you to connect to existing threads, manually/auto create new threads, and reply to existing threads from the WP post editor. See this guide for more instructions:

If you are unable to see the create thread option from the post editor, it is most likely due to the API user not having the proper permissions applied, specifically the thread:write permission. See the documentation category for more info about API user permissions:

Yes, with the Bulk actions tool you can sync users across WP and XF, and vice-versa, and as of version 1.6.3 you can sync by user roles and other criteria. Here is a guide about bulk user syncing:

unless I’ve missed something and in the instructions the WebHook functionality doesnt translate for sending content from WP to XF.
Webhooks open up many possibilities, but not every single webhook is accounted for. There are some challenges in sending content with HTML across the API, so I'd like to hear more specifically what you are looking to achieve here. The standard post new thread functionality doesn't require webhooks, and supports bbCode.

I hope the docs help and I'd be happy to help out with any specific questions you have moving forward!

Yes, the product is active and while I standby its functionality, I recognize it is frustrating and confusing to not hear from the developer which I am determined to get back on track.

I will go through your questions at my forum and answer them if you are still interested in the plugin!

From what I can see thread:write is set up and has a green ticket next to it already but its still asking me to add to an existing thread only rather than make a new one.

"thread:write Covers creating, updating and soft-deleting threads and posts."

See @DavidB's reply, he is right about adding forum IDs to trigger the full create thread functionality in the interface. I have made a note to make this a bit more obvious in a future release!!

Thanks that worked! I am however not seeing where to do the bulk import for a handful of users that need to be synced am i missing something?

Check the WP admin > XFtoWP > Bulk actions tab. If that screen is not there, you will most likely need the user:read and user:write API permissions.

So I finally purchased the plug-in, and unfortunately seemed to miss a window with Alex. :(

I am a little lost in it all, but I have it working to where it allows you to login with your XF account into WP, and any new account made on XF is seen if WP -- sure it would work the reverse also -- but the idea was to pull/sync all of our XF users into WP immediately, and with the same 'user group' but I may be missing that ability to do that.

Ideally it would be nice to have it work both ways.... so that people can join from either site, the only challenge is WP doesn't seem to play nice with getting a user ID, bday, and avatar during reg.

I could be overthinking it all, just mentally worn out, or missing the bigger picture -- but any insight would be helpful!

Thanks all

@Chernabog I could be wrong, but I think bi-directional registration and login are not possible until there are changes made to the REST API endpoints for XenForo.

Thanks for the feedback, @Forsaken -- appreciate you, as always. Has anyone heard from @kolakube ?? Alex is an incredible guy, super friendly, and I know he's behind this plugin 100% (and I could surely use his help) -- but it seems like he's MIA a lot lately. Life does happen, times are crazy, but just wondering if I should try to stick it out and wait to hear from him ...or if I need to start looking for other options or changes after having purchased the add on.

His inactivity tends to be ~2-6 month cycles, so I can't really say how long it would be. He was active last month, but end of year is generally a time most people are less active.

If you've already bought the add-on, and can work out something that works for you until he is back that is probably your best option, as I do not know of any alternative that is as functional.

I have nothing but good things to say about him, and what I've heard of him throughout the years here, but for someone selling commercial products that is horrific and consumer confidence killing behavior, especially when not clearly stated at time of purchase. It's almost like tossing money into the abyss.

I feel bad, too, because he did reach out to me - rather quickly and wanted to assist .. then I became the one whose time got all turned upside down.

This has not been my year... ☹️
