XenZine Articles [Deleted]

Hi there,

Just got this add-on, I'd like to know - how can I remove the "Select a Category" bar from appearing on the index page?

Div ID = "container articleListContainer"... Can't find it anywhere?

Love this add on, one thing I would suggest is to add social media icons(to post the url to twitter and facebook) so we can promote the articles we spend time writing... If this was possible this would be the ultimate article system. 4/5 stars for this reason :(

Does anyone have any ways or suggestions of additional add ons for such purpose?

I don't know if this is the best way, but in template xenzine_article, I added:

Code:
<xen:include template="share_page">
    <xen:set var="$url">{xen:link 'canonical:threads', $thread}</xen:set>
</xen:include>
just above
Code:
<xen:include template="xenzine_article_content" >

You could also have your social buttons in the sidebar using widget frameworks addon

Just a quick question: Is there a way to have a given order inside a category, i.e. not by publishing date, activity or likes, but an order that can be set in the backend?

Huhu - if I'm to shell out 40 Britbucks, I'd really like to know beforehand ;)

Not currently, It has been requested a few times, so it's something I will look at adding as an enhancement
I know some people have modified the plugin to do this, but I think there was a fair amount of php modifications.

I'm also need to have this (comments under the article).

I think you should improve the addon to make it like an alternative for IP.Content for Xenforo. Xenforo currently lacks of a CMS and i think your addon is best suited to do this than XenPorta/Extraportal because have it's own route and has the article area separated from the forum.

Hi,
this add-on looks great but the start/overview page is not structured. When I look at
http://www.surreyforum.co.uk/xz-articles/
it seems difficult for users to get an overview or to find relevant information as there is a huge pile of content with multiple columns and no fixed row heights. The category view:
http://www.surreyforum.co.uk/xz-articles/
is better but like @cellarius I`d like to now if you could also arrange the article overview in a more structured way like this:
Is this possible via templating?

thank you - all the best,
Sacha

You can structure it by editing templates. It'll definitely be a lot of editing, but it's simply manipulating the variables and placing them in the right places after you rewrite some html.

thanks, this is good to hear. I know that this add-on has "Pintrest Style Layout" in it`s title but I think adding another (optional) more structured style like the ones I posted would make this add-on more popular.

Agreed. A more standard structure will surely give it more popularity. Not all users like/need a Pinterest layouts...i'm sure that the majority prefer a more simpler structure like Xenporta/Extraportal etc.

Well - Styling is fine and dandy, but my question was not about styling, but about what articles are shown and in what order. Does the developer ever answer in this thread? Or should I ask someplace else? Honestly, I don't feel much inclined to pay that amount of money if I can't get a quite simple question answered.

having trouble with TAGS
I can only write single words and not doubles or more
for example - "smiley" will work how ever "nice smiley" will be split to 2 words.

thanks for helping.

log in to the ACP, select Options > XenZine Articles
Separated Tags By Comms (ticked)
Separated Tags By Space (unticked)

This will allow tags to contain a space (and not separate each tag by spaces), such as "custom fields" here:

http://xenzine.com/?tag=custom+fields

as apposed to

I'll repeat my question one last time, then I promise not to bother @tenants anymore - I also promise not to buy. That I'm not allowed to see his profile does not boost my confidence either.
