Implemented [Suggestion] Personal Conversations / showing Avatar of person initiated the conversation

when clicking onto "Inbox / Show all", then we see the list of all Personal Conversations we have had.

I was just trying to find a certain Private-Conversation in my Inbox.

It took some time to look for this, as the subject-title of most of my messages are very similar.
Also at most of those, my own Avatar is showing-up - as I assume it is always showing the Avatar of the person who started a specific Conversation.

As I have started most of the Conversations, it is showing my own Avatar on most of my Inbox, which does not help to find a specific Conversation.

BTW: looking onto the Inbox-Drop-Down, it is also showing my own Avatar. It does not help to see my own Avatar there, it would help in a big way to see the avatars of the users who are talking with myself.

Suggestions:
For the Inbox-Drop-Down-box, I would suggest to show the avatars of people who I am talking with, but not show the Avatar of myself (just because I had initiated the Personal conversations).

For the Inbox-list, I would suggest you show the Avatars of ALL people who participated in a certain conversation.

Not sure if this has been suggested, but how about when you click "Participants" (*Voice of Peter Griffin: 'He said pants...'), a popup could come up with the names and avatars of the participants. Like in my "illustration".

That would be logical indeed and I like you mockup. But I think this should not be in any mouseover. I want to see the participants immediately at a glance when I look at my list of PC's:

[No, thanks] <--- just kidding ! Realize... when we have to mouseover something to see something that is important for us to see immediately, then it doesn't serve the purpose.

Why just not (for the time being) display ALL the participants usernames underneath (or next) the little grey username (the one who started the thread) in this list: http://xenforo.com/community/conversations/

That would solve it more or less. I mean the number indicating how much participants a PC has, is a bit useless isn't it? WHY do I need to know how many participants a PC has? I want to know WHO those participants are, that is much more important.

you're right Grover :) i'd put only a different solution, obviously yours will be the first :)

What happens if there are 30+ participants in a Private Conversation?
Having all the usernames displayed is going to take a up a lot of space.

I vote no.

30+ participants?!! I mean... you almost can not call that a private conversation anymore, can you?;)

No you can't, but not because of the 30 participants. They're called personal conversations. :p ;)
But you're right, that would be a lot to display... My mockup would work with that though. Just "paginate" it with 4-6 people per "page".

Currently the PC's is limited to a maximim of 6 people yourself and 5 others so there is no risk of this.

I wonder if that is an ACP setting or hard coded?
Either way I expect many boards will increase that number, especially boards with more than 6 moderators.

Thats only here; its based on group permissions (I think), so conversations can be increased.
Still - surely you wouldn't make the limit much bigger. PCs are not meant for big group discussions. Hopefully there will be another feature to facilitate that.

Even if you changed it doubt you would change it to as high at 30. Maybe 10/15 maximim for most sites...

if you have 30 people in a Private Conversation, we could just have the same pop-up-window as we already have at "Following / Show all".
So literally showing all participants in a list.

In my list of Private Conversations it's not made obvious to me WHO my Conversation is with.

Now so far on here not a problem. Even my aged brain can remember who the 4 conversations are with by the title and avatar pic.
But on my own board I'll never remember them all from the title and avatar alone.
Even less as the long trail reaches back ... builds up.

I appreciate that some Conversations can include several people. But I'd guess they at least start with one?

So on the list I'd like to see -

Title of Conversation

Shanj, Aug 27, 20 with Fred

or

Shanj, Aug 27, 20 http://xenforo.com/conversations/interview.603/with Fluffy, Fred and Foxspirit.

On the Conversation page itself can we please see the participant/ participants at the top under the Conversation title? A simple text list same as above - I did finally find the list of names and avatars on the right but it's not at the top and things on the right are not that obvious. I personally tend to look UP or LEFT for info.
