Starting to play with some yellow and (at Blandt's request) a darker gray on the bg; thoughts there?

btw remove the #61bc33 and replace it with #4b4b4b. If it works then you've made that change. :)

it should look like the following:

Code:
background: #4b4b4b url(styles/default/xenforo/gradients/titleyourgradient.png) repeat-x top;
Sorry; I'm not sure what you're referring to with the #61bc33 thing. o_O

Can we see where you are up to Kurt :)

And the #61bc33 thing is a hex value for a colour, entered in the CSS or style properties (depending on where you are working) Shelley is suggesting you replace that hex code with the one she suggested, which is a gray colour.

You can see things as they change here; I'm not going to take screen caps right away because things keep changing, lol.

I know it's a hex color; I just don't know where she's seeing it, haha.

Woah Nellie :o

What the heck happened, it went from too blue to grey and yellow :|

Too blue was better imho.

That is wayy too bright a yellow, and the grey is just drab without any life to it.

What are you aiming to achieve with the site, do you want a blue skin or a gray skin?

My plan was for a primarily blue skin with gray as a secondary and gold(?) highlights. Just conflicted between my original thoughts, my edits, and people's suggestions... :s haha

I want it to look social and inviting, so I'm thinkin' I'm going to go for a lighter gray--the dark feels too moody to me, lol.

hrm

EDIT: I'm gonna go for a lighter background tomorrow and I'll work on the tertiary color...time for bed now.

The sub-navigation elements aren't working - white text on a bright yellow background - they only really "appear" when you hover over them.

Personally I'd ditch the yellow and use good, strong versions of the blue / black / white from your logo theme, with a couple of lighter shades / gradients for a handful of non-key elements.

Cheers,
Shaun :D

It's starting to get there. I've tampered around a little in firebug and came up with a few enhancements. I tinkered (in the screenshot) with the lastpost area by adding a border all around rather than what you had at just the bottom same with the category strip. I also felt the yellow could be a little more prominent. I also added a dashed border-bottom instead of a solid for forum separation and tinkered with the breadcrumbs?

I think these are some of the enhancements you should make but as i said I like where the style is going.

LOL

tbh, I don't like the yellow at all. And the gray and yellow almost makes the colors on the logo look out of place now.

I agree with Dragonfly and Geeks, only not with using black.
IMO, you should go back to your original design colors and start again, seriously. The gray and yellow is...... not nice (being nice).

Ugh I do not like that at all - At All.

Thanks for the thorough critique, but hey floris a "urgh I don't like it" or "looks good" isn't helping anyone with the Neanderthal dialect we have all come to love and help us improve upon our designs.

From the colours he used (which is better than the over-bearing blue) it's an improvement. Help him out a little.

[generic negative comment] (confused as whether the critique on this style is helping the OP or hindering :) )

That's what she said......

Actually she said quite a bit more than just that... Or did I imagine the rest?

As for Critique, if you simply don't like something then why can't you say it... Ok sure its more helpful if you can explain why but sometimes you just simply don't like it.

He was asking for a critique. Highlighting what you don't like will help. Maybe it's just me but helping others eliminate the negative aspects of a style helps instead of a "ugh, I don't like, at all".

Yes I know she said more than that. I can read. :) However, I was replying to Floris' post which simply said "Neanderthal". :)
And I do believe that I have stated why I don't like the colors currently in use.

I don't quite understand why Shelley said that, or how I am supposed to take that.

Wow, you guys are bad taking feedback, but excellent at giving it to others.

Wait I love how people say "I can read" but don't read what is written... Anywho haven't got time for stupid pointless offtopic arguments...

I explained right there floris. :) Overall your feedback didn't help, infact, providing "why" you didn't like it (as others have help you) would have been beneficial and help the OP. We love the reasons why you don't like if reasons are given. You didn't. ;)
