lol smh....as sad as this is(and truly this thread is sad), it's almost...endearing, in a sad wayI wouldnt say this is praise at allJust news and wishing the best to someone who is very well liked around here.
He's still a bit of miserable grump though, he hasn't asked me to house-sit for him while hes banged up.
Hive mentality will crop up in any community.. it appears to be a consequence of having a community. It's not surprising or even amusing to me really.
I would disagree that the outlook doesn't depend on the crime. I would actually say the crime in question has a lot to do with it, it's probably the biggest dividing factor 2nd only to Shawn's likeness here.
Also, take into consideration you're talking about a community who already had a bad taste in their mouth regarding lawsuits and the justice system.

A few things... I'm sure this "camp" is safe but quoting statistics about how safe a prison is by the number of reported assaults is like taking Kim Jung Un (or whatever his name is) word for it that he won 100% of the vote in North Korea. The vast majority of prison violence goes unreported. Without a report it is not included in statistics. If you get raped in prison you aren't going to make a report because then you're a "rat" and you'll get raped AND beat next time.
DP pointed this out but even if the Government's story is 100% true nothing he did rises to a criminal level in my eyes- he didn't harm me, he didn't harm any consumers. This always should have been solely a civil suit between him and eBay.
Finally I can't be the only one reminded of this...

Yeah, it heals, but at the time... I wasn't doing anything to anyone, I just had an argument with a family member, and out of nowhere, an officer grabbed my hand, threw me down like I'm some fugative... And other officers jumped in, I ended up having a huge scab on the side of the kneecap. Good thing I was drunk at the time because I would not handle that pain. Several hundred pounds on top of you? No. *slight laugh* No.

How I see it..This is a good marketing Scheme for Shawn. He's being "Oppressed by the government" and based on many replies in this thead most agree that despite his wrongdoing, he is more or less innocent so I imagine this will work out perfectly in the end for Shawn. I can't even be mad at the guy because it is brilliant in a way sad but brilliant

No, that's legally covering your base. They then can't say "oh, but he was breaking our rules/regs/laws" (well they can, but they would look foolish) when he is specifically instructed that he is allowed to do that. It then no longer is a "grey" area.
