so still do it but get it in writing? That's....interesting.
Yep, as in writing from eBay's lawyers. The underlying act wasn't a crime in itself, rather the people at eBay that asked me to do it didn't have the legal authority to make the request for me to do what I did.

The analogy from this post still holds true:
The best analogy I can come up with would be something like this... Say someone you knew offered you $1,000 to throw a brick through a car that they owned. Before you agree, you question them about "why" and their response didn't make a whole lot of sense so you keep questioning them about it. Finally they tell you they are filming a hidden camera show or something that could at least make some sort of sense in your mind, so you agree and you do it. A year later the police show up at your place to arrest you because the person who asked you to do it didn't have the legal authority to ask you to do it. Because even though it was their car, the car was owned by the bank still. You vandalized bank property.

So to further that, throwing a brick through a window isn't in itself illegal (like if you were in your backyard and had a pane of glass and threw a brick through it), but in the case of the above analogy if someone asks you to throw it through their car (even if you think the car is owned by them), it doesn't indemnify you if you later find out the person making the request didn't have the legal authority to do so because they were still paying a loan on the car (so it was owned by the bank still).

But yes... if the title holder of the car (the bank) gave you written authorization to do it, then they would have a very difficult time coming after you for damaging their properly after the fact.

Just like if someone at eBay (with the authority to do so) had given me permission in writing, then yes... I would have still done it knowing what I know now.

Have you bothered to read this

http://www.shawnhogan.com/2010/08/w...rism-and-meg-whitman-have-in-common-ebay.html

I think this may be why many seem to be on Shawn's side. Either way I think you're just throwing rocks at a hornets nest..
Hadnt seen that(giving it a read now). Though I am a firm believer of their are many many sides to the story, I do keep an open mind but I also view this a 'shawn's" truth/perception he is giving us all.

If I was in the same situation as shawn, given what I do know, yes if I had to do all over again....I'd get it in a writing OR you know something radical like....Stop after a certain time/amount or you know, not do it at all.

That's where I was going with that.
@Tracy Perry

He still hasn't asked me to house-sit for him....
It's just too much hassle for you... For example the thumbprint scanners to bring the home automation system online is only coded for me. :)

So what are you going to do, sit around with no lights, TV, music, AC/heat, can't turn on spa, etc.? Sound lame to me...

Do you know how annoying it is to add more fingerprints to the system??

Barf... Windows CE.

I can send you my thumb in advance if it helps?
Also, the Internet here sucks. Fiber to the premise, and the best they can do is use it as a transport for the previous generation DSL. The fastest you can get over the fiber from AT&T (it's their fiber) is 18Mbit down, 1.5Mbit up... Which is funny because my AT&T cell phone does about 4x that speed at the same location over LTE.

Hopefully when I'm out of the clink, they have flipped the switch for this in my area: http://about.att.com/story/att_eyes...alities_for_its_ultra_fast_fiber_network.html

Ok you caught me out, all I want is a holiday to california :(

I live in San Diego As well. Weather is great but its a bit over rated.

There is a great Jimmy Buffett Tune called "Gypsies in the Palace"
Which tells the story about the time Jimmy let his Brother-in-Law(who just got out of rehab) House sit for him while he was on tour.

Note to self- Be careful of who you let house sit for you :)

Um. I disagree here, there's a small chance you'd get "raped" for walking down the street in a *good* neighborhood. Most good neighborhoods are "friendly" folks. It's the bad ones (bad people, bad community, bad neighborhood) you need to worry about. It's much worse in the ghetto, where beat ups are the norm. You'd be lucky to walk scotts free. Some people don't bother you because they don't see you as a threat, or you didn't do anything to them in the first place.
Okay, I'd like to take this comment back. Some good neighborhoods have some bad apples. My mom's car was stolen on Mother's Day - of all days. Really? It's not often a good neighborhood has crime going on, but when it does happen, I'm disappointed.

Thanks for ruining my weekend, thief!

Yeah La Jolla is safe, I Live in Coronado. Same difference. I still think this area is big time over rated. Homes are selling for about 50 % more than they should be due to "The California sheeple effect" - But that's a story for another forum.
Anyway Lets not get on a Cali tangent.

I wish Shawn the best.

Is this your current connection for digitalpoint.com? It loads fast.
I think he was referring to his home ISP link. I'm sure that digitalpoint.com is running at LEAST a 1Gbps connection - even I have that on my sites.
