Suggestion.

I installed this on my client site, I test it and banned a user after and I see the banned Icon, However after I unbanned the user the image is broken. Its nice if it will revert the image in a previous state.
 
Same issue here, avatar icons in alerts dropdown and probably in some other areas are broken images with "image not found error". I do not have similar threads add-on (had it but uninstalled) yet these avatars are broken for banned members. The custom banned member avatar does show up on their profile page correctly. Turned off cache, purged all cache, browser cache purged, yet image does not show up.
 
In my case the path shown in browser is this /data/avatars/s/57/57150.jpg (This filename is not the image uploaded to be the custom avatar, this looks like the user's original avatar file name).
 
Would you mind sharing your list of add-ons?

I can't reproduce this so I would initially suspect another add-on is involved.
 
Annoyingly it hasn't helped. I still think it could be one of them, but it's unfortunately not obvious which it might be.

Using XF 1.5, you can disable all add-ons from the add-on list (List Add-ons) on the Admin CP home page. This will remember any add-ons you already have disabled. If you could try disabling all add-ons, then re-enable the Special Avatar for Banned Members add-on, does that fix the problem?

At the very least it will confirm another add-on is involved.

Re-enabling each one, one by one and testing will narrow it down, but I appreciate that can be fairly labour intensive if you have more than a few add-ons.

Otherwise I'm happy to do the leg work for you, but I would need full Admin CP access myself.
 
Unfortunately it didn't work, I disabled almost all add-ons except the style and some add-ons which worked fine with this in the past. I don't really know when this started, probably never paid attention to the small avatars in alerts for banned members.

The issue persisted after disabling majority of add-ons. The custom avatar for banned members works for member card & member profile. I don't have any entry in new feeds for banned member but that area also shows the tiny avatar, don't know if it works in news feed

@Bob_R If you don't mind can you check if you have the above issue as well, to replicate the issue you'd need to do something like this:

- Have a new member registration
- Have them send you a PM or something to create an alert
- Check to see if you see their avatar/default avatar in the alert pop-up
- Ban the member
- Refresh page and now check if you see the Banned Member avatar or their own avatar or no avatar in the alerts pop-up

Sorry for asking you for this, just trying to see if it is just me or it is a bigger issue. Thanks in advance

@Solmak Everything is working fine for me.
 
You need to copy the banned avatar files from the default location styles/default/xenforo/avatars to whatever your image path is on your custom style, e.g. styles/<your_style_image_path>/xenforo/avatars
