Social Groups for XenForo

Social Groups for XenForo [Paid] 2.2.0 Alpha 1

No permission to buy ($49.00)
Not sure I understand this problem. Everyone needs to have registered as primary group? Even admins?
While this is no longer true in the XF2 version of the group system, it is preferred. That requirement was removed in version 2.1 of the group system.
What's the difference between a restricted group as a private group?
A restricted group is only accessible to user groups that have permission to view restricted groups. It's used by most sites as a way to limit viewing of adult oriented groups.

The differences between the different group types are explained below each option:

Are admins supposed to have registered as primary group?
Again, while it's no longer absolutely required in the XF2 version of the group system it is preferred. That is how XenForo itself is designed to work.

Also note if these questions are in relation to the XF1.x version, this is the XF2 add-on thread and what you read here may not apply to the XF1.x version. Asking questions about the XF1.x version in this thread will only confuse people with the XF 2 version. Support for the XF1.x version is only done on my site. (you do not have an XF2 add-on license).

Does this option mean that it changes the individual forum node permissions or the user's permissions?

Scary :D

What is the exact command to upgrade this on CLI?
  • php cmd.php xf:addon-upgrade XXXX ?

Is it possible to move your Social Groups Sidebar to the other side so it will combine with XenForo's Thread Sidebar widgets.

Thanks!

While there's no way to move the sidebar itself, if you didn't know it, you can completely turn off the group left sidebar in group settings and create normal widgets to place what's displayed in the left sidebar in the XF right sidebar...

What about for Display condition?
So it will only show on Category that holds Social Groups forum?

The group widget only shows on group pages. It doesn't show in categories.

Or am I misunderstanding your question?

The only thing holding me back from buying this is private groups. I don't want people to stop posting in the forum and bring all their discussions into a private area that can't be accessed by guests or ranked in search engines. Can this capability be turned off?

Or maybe I'd allow members with paid upgrades to use the Private feature. This way most people would have public groups...

A group being private has never been a requirement with this add-on. It's up to you what type of groups you allow members to make.

The only requirement is a user must be a member of a group to post in that group.

I realize group privacy is not a requirement. I don't want the option available to the end user at all.
