(edit of my previous post)

I like the 2-column-layout at your Homepage.
Is there a chance to add an additional layout-style, specifically the Pinterest-style layout to your Homepage-interface ?

- display content at the Homepage in "Masonry layout" ?
- get rid of the pagination and display content at the Homepage as "Endless scrolling" ?

via the code from here:
http://masonry.desandro.com

Looking at your Demo-video, I could imagine that this could be turned into something like this:

To view this content we will need your consent to set third party cookies.

It would be just a question of how to grab content from other websites (e.g.: an article from CNN) and display this content in the first post of a thread (by just entering a URL-Link of a specific article/website into the first post of a thread).

The most interesting idea to your Add-on would be, if we could allow each user to create his very own Categories. By doing so, each user could sort his very own threads into Categories defined by himself.
Thereby you could display each user's very own Categories at the User-Profile-page. There might not even be a need to display any Categories at the Homepage at all, or maybe just the need to display "top-level" Categories at the Homepage.

Many thanks!
:)

No, it's not possible ATM.

That's something which will be possible with our CMF Linklist Thread Type.

Categories are global and can't be managed by users.

You're asking for a personal dashboard and not a global landingpage/portalpage.

well, I am actually asking for both a personal dashboard and also a global landingpage/portalpage.

It is actually a combination of both:

- Global Categories / Global Landingpage showing all items (of all users) in an endless stream
- User defined Categories / User Landingpage showing user items

:)

Another sneak preview of an not yet presented feature:

Portalpreview text / Teaser Text
You can define the text which will be shown on the portal

If you don't set anything, it will be the item content which is limited by the max. chars option
output will be: http://demo.extralicense.com/?category_id=2

But that's often too much, not enough or not nice!

If you want, you can also define the output via a new bbcode
Rich (BB code):
[portalpreview=exclusive]This is a text which is visible only on the portal
[/portalpreview]
This won't be shown on the portal page

Rich (BB code):
[portalpreview]This is a text which is visible on the portal and in the thread
[/portalpreview]
This won't be shown on the portal page
That's also implemented with much love, so we've tried to hide the exclusive portalpreview from all the xenforo snippets (e.g. search result preview, thread preview overlay)

Demo: http://demo.extralicense.com/?category_id=1

Suggestion: With the category block I don't think there is a need for the category titles to all have a border-bottom just have the title with the border-bottom and lower the size of the font of the rest.
thx for the feedback, i'm still not 100% happy with it, but it looks much better now;)

Will there be any styling to the "article" pages so they don't look so much like a forum post? Maybe get rid of the avatar for the first post where the article is, or change the placement of it somehow so it looks more like a regular CMS page?

What's a "article" page for you? This http://demo.extralicense.com/ , http://demo.extralicense.com/?category_id=5 or http://demo.extralicense.com/threads/xenforo-bacon-article.11/ ?

If it's the thread output, i would suggest to watch http://xenforo.com/community/threads/content-management-framework.45066/

I wish there would be more of a block system like vBadvanced (not as square) but something close to it.

Applying some finishing touches. We will be releasing this next week. Look for the announcement. ;)

I'm liking the standard no column listings as shown here at this site http://xenforo.com/community/threads/tech-talks-net.47106/#post-515035

Suggestion: I remember digitalpoint made this suggestion for the RM and I think it would be good practice to do the same and that is remove the visitorpanel block from the portal homepage. Users know there already there and I think users will utilize the space more when they start adding in there custom sidebar blocks. Suggestion again is to remove the visitorpanel entirely from the portal.

edit: you'll notice no visitorpanel here and it worked well having it removed (early Rm had it in) http://xenforo.com/community/resources/custom-widget-system-cws.1667/

Really liking the portal on that tech-talks.

hmm, i don't know. I get why it works in the RM (no visitor panel). The RM is deep inside the site and visitors should know how and why they got there, but the portal is the first thing visitors will see, and a first opportunity to sign up. Probably not explaining that right but I think it works. Having said that, we will include the option to disable the visitor panel in the style properties. ;)

Edit: added screenshot to show how desolate it would be ;)

I think the "open" design with the ability/option to disable the visitor panel is a winner (y)

Definitely. I think from a users perspective starting afrsh they'll be tempted to keep it in if the site is bare but I would bet once they start filling the sidebar with blocks and widgets they will want that removed to save space. Good suggestion in having it optional. :)

Yeah I can certainly see why you would want it in but Arny made a good suggestion though users could easily do a display: none; I'm just thinking ahead for when additional blocks are added. :D

The flexibility of design (options) and the responsiveness to our requests is making this really impressive.
I also like its uncluttered look - not easy ti achieve.

Let's have a little fun before our official release. The winner of this little contest will win a branding free version of simple portal. The contest is simple (get it;)) : The first person who can correctly explain the highlighted function in the following screenshot wins the SimplePortal branding free.
