How does the browser notification look and does it work with all browsers?
 
It's the standard browser notification. You've probably seen it before.

Works in most desktop browsers but not mobile and possibly not IE.

Well there were multiple reports of this I think so that's why I switched to using favico.js over tinycon.

See how you get on with it and if it doesn't help we'll look at it properly.
