Forum suggestion: Remove sales threads

LOL, look for it in my signature soon and for my trolling here to increase dramatically !!

Be sure to use a big image sig too.

I have no issues with anything XF specific. My objection is only with hosting ads.
To say that a hosting company is XF related makes as much sense as selling a car or computer.

Secondly, why would it have to be a hidden forum only viewable by licensed forum owners ?

That is stupid and would hurt the software sales, maybe the public should view it but only licensed members can post.

The same could be said for 95% of the threads in the Off Topic forum.

No Brogan. Offtopic conversations here are interesting. That is why this is the only Offtopic forum that i visit. I may not post much but I read a lot of the conversations here and they are sometimes fun, sometimes informative and sometimes silly. Take the thread where everyone was posting their jobless woes, it was fun... take the butterfly jewelry thread, it was fun... The IE9 thread, it was informative, (i first got to know abt the IE9 RC release by reading here) etc. These Offtopic threads give a very good feel about the Xenforo community. It doesn't make xF look unprofessional or silly in any way, but actually makes the place feel warm and inviting.

The opposite happens when I see Sales Adverts. People who have been visiting here regularly may as well know some of the guys selling stuff, but my point was specifically about new members. If I had just turned newly joined here, and seen the adverts, the chances of me returning would be very slim.

The solution to all this is to setup a Paid Products and Services Forum. That would be highly beneficial to all, as then the problem would be converted into an opportunity. If I wanted to buy skins or hosting or stuff, i would then myself go and check out the Products forum to see what's on Sale from Xen members.

Classifieds forum? I thought this was a business site with its own product to sell. Ok paid services (coding/design) related to XenForo could be useful, but that's where I'd draw the line.

Yes. I believe it does in a way negatively effect xenForo as a professional product to have such threads posted regularly. It becomes some sort of a spam. A classified or a complete ban on such things should be considered by the management.

Until yesterday, xenforo.com was in my eyes a supportboard for xenforo.
Now it becaume IMHO just an other chitchat board...

Without an Ignore Feauture and some other features to ignore boards & users it's really hard to track the IMPORTANT stuff....
