One moment, putting my car up for sale...

Goodluck with the sale.

What does your car have to do with XF? How does selling your car here help the community?
---------------------
Seriously the professional services offered by third party's weather it be XF optimized hosting, Graphics, Installations, Upgrades. etc, etc... Are one of my favorite things about this site.. I think its unique, fresh and welcome change from other software developers sites. Seeing it all here on a forum i frequent gives me better insight of the person i may or may not contract at some point.... Save me a bit of homework so to speak. ;)

Nothing but if he sells the car he could buy a few more XF licenses.
And hosting has as much to do with XenForo as this.
I suppose if we go down this road we may as well ban graphic requests, and or server recommendations, oh and i suppose we should drop all discussions of an app store here to... And Get rid off the off topic forums all together since they rarely relate to XF as a whole. Or even better yet.. Lets just replicate vB's official support forum because we all know they have it nailed down. I guess i just dont see why its a big deal is not like we are being plagued with Rolex and Viagra posts.

Who said forum management would allow Xrumer spambot posts in the marketplace in the first place ??

You guys are taking this way off into the twilight zone

I think that is totally different.
Those are members making requests. Not members looking to sell.
There are already forums dedicated to finding web hosts. I don't know what is so special about hosting a XenForo forum that it needs to be here.
I also have no problem with members who contribute to the forum who have commercial services available.

Thats really all im trying to say.. Its just my personal opinion.. Why go to Franks mini mart for food, then to sears for a microwave, then to Ceramic crap are us for plates. When you can go to walmart and get all those things.

more importantly, why not use the vendors who take part in your community?

Local economy builds strong communities.

since one yes is supposed to be classified...we see so far, in the poll, TWICE as many members want a dedicated section as those who just have a problem with there being actual business people on this forum too.

I agree 100% and would hate to see this community fragmented in such a way that i have to search hi and low sometimes for days straight to find a specific offering or product.. Funny to me that the free addon forum is ok but trying to sell a skin here is unprofessional.. Makes no sense.. (to me)

Either remove these adverts or move them to a separate Sales Forum. These threads make XF's company site look unprofessional and silly. Maybe the guys selling are genuine community members, but new members don't know that. I for one, if I am going to Apple's site or Oracle Forums, don't expect it to be littered with third party vendor adverts.

Exactly. I am all for supporting the community based on these forums, but they should be put into their own "Marketplace" section.

It doesn't make sense to me. I'm not blaming the staff here but there's a site owner that offers services practically in every thread where someone wants to convert their forum and they're posts are left untouched (verbally by the community) yet poor andrew (using him as an example) posted a genuine offering to sell graphics and he got slated for it resulting in him requesting for his thread to be closed if memory recalls.

I'm not for or against these threads just that for certain people it's frowned upon to start a paid thread/post whilst for others they get burnt at the stake. Selective slating I call it if they can get away with it whilst (horray!!) tip toeing around others. Sorry but this is fact and it's extremely annoying to see happening. If it's aloowed it should be allowed to anyone without the worry of being slated by the community, if not, nip it in the bud and not allow any type of service offerings period.
