Chat 2 by Siropu [Paid] 2.5.2

No permission to buy (€29.99)
@Siropu , as expected the Shoutbox has been a great success on my forum. I also have the Social Groups add-on installed and a lot of people have asked whether it would be possible to have a shoutbox for their individual groups.

I'm thinking the only way to do this would be to purchase the ChatRoom add-on, then each group could create their own room with a password and then link to it in their social group? Is there anyway of getting the private chat room to display in their individual group rather tne just linking to it in a post?

The add-on has the option to embed certain rooms using an iframe but I'm not familiar with social groups add-on so I don't know how you can link it to the group.

@Siropu Just got this addon, so far it looks great. I have an issue though with ads.

I have Google Adsense in the sidebar as a widget and it's set as Public Sidebar. But it doesn't show up on the chat page at all. When I look at the code, the Adsense code is there, it's just not showing. I even tried to set it as Chat Sidebar (I tried all the chat positions) but still nothing. Is there something in your CSS that's set not to display it? I can't think of anything else.

If you have set the AdSense widget to position "Chat: Chat page sidebar" and it doesn't show up, the issue is with AdSense. Take a look in the browser console to see if there are any error messages from adsense.

I checked and there's nothing different than the rest of my site. I set it up so only the admin group can view the chat. Could it be that? Maybe Adsense can't see it? Because I checked other parts of my site that guests can't see and the ads show there okay.

I don't know what's the problem but I know that there is nothing wrong with that widget position. Try adding a text or something below the adsense code to see if ti shows up.

Well I just checked and even my adsense in Xen's advertising position doesn't show up. I have adsense there beneath the breadcrumb and it's the same thing, it doesn't show but the code is there. Only the chat page is like this. I put text in the widget and it shows, but still no adsense.

The issue might be the lack of content on that page or they might not allow it. No error messages in the browser console?

No errors. I've been searching around and it could be that - lack of content. Maybe also the chat page hasn't been crawled yet? It's just odd that their code would be there but not actually show. It's definitely something on their end, especially since the breadcrumb advertising position doesn't show it either. I'll keep an eye on it and post back if the ads do show up eventually.

Thanks for the help!

Don't forget that Google Ads gave everyone the "gift" of "massive full sized ads", simply because they "thought" everyone wanted larger ads.

Made/has made a right old mess of some sites as a result.

They tend to have a mind of their own when it comes to things.

@Siropu - Just had a play around with the demo on your site. I notice that you can quote chatters, but see there is no option to have the @ in front of the chatters name to click on to alert them. Is there a setting for this?

I believe there is.
  • Enable user mention alert
If enabled, users can receive alert notifications when they are mentioned in room messages. Users will have to opt in via their chat settings in order to receive alert notifications.

Quick user tagging
  • Use @ button before the username
  • Use the username as the button
  • Disabled
This option allows you to tag users more easily in chat messages.

Thanks @RallyFan
Just want to make sure I can achieve the same as I currently have with the Shoutbox before upgrading.

shout.webp

Where it looks like this, and when you click on the @ - Like I have with busser22, it adds the name to the text bar.

Ahh Siropu can answer that one direclty as I've configured up my addon to disable user tagging by default so I can't test that specific feature.

This seems like one of those moments where you say something and the person you say it about is right behind you

Thanks for the clarification on that one.

Is Chat a beefed up version of Shoutbox?
