Centmin Mod community moves from G+ Communities

Hi folks

Some of you may know who I am :)

Anyway, my Centmin Mod LEMP web stack project has moved it's discussions from a 300+ member Google+ Communities over to a Xenforo based forum at http://community.centminmod.com. It's literally the first week it's been online in a private password protected mode until I opened it to the public (last 24hrs). Why Xenforo ?

Forums are hosted on a 4GB VPS server using Centmin Mod auto installer based Nginx 1.7.1 with Nginx PageSpeed module enabled, PHP 5.5.13 + Zend OpCache, MariaDB MySQL 5.5.37 and Memcached 1.4.20 server

Optimal server performance has always been my thing, so this forum is no exception. You can see my pagespeed journey at http://community.centminmod.com/threads/community-centminmod-com-journey-for-speed.3/ :)

Comments and critiques are welcome. And yes I like Metro themes :D

George, welcome to XF. :)

You're the first person I've seen who has switched from Google+ Communities to a forum. Part of that is so few people I know use G+ Communities (I prefer Google+ over FB for keeping up with news & people but never got into G+ Communities).

Did you look into any possible ways getting the G+ Communities content exported so you could import into somewhere else?

Thanks for the welcomes and feedback guys :)

@Kevin no way to export G+ Community content, so just start fresh and hope G+ Community members follow me to the new forums :D

1st year online

Well time flies - Centmin Mod Community forum celebrates it's 1st birthday on Xenforo in 2 days time. Part of the birthday celebrations is adding both Showcase and Media Gallery addons to the forums https://community.centminmod.com/threads/xenforo-media-gallery-showcase-addons-added.2972/ and already added Resource Manager :)

Still hosted on same 4G Linode Xen VPS but now on Nginx 1.9, PHP 5.6.9, MariaDB 5.5.43 and Memcached 1.4.24 with Elasticsearch 1.5.2

@Russ thank you for the awesome FlatAwesome free style - it's very very nice and works relatively well with ngx_pagespeed :) Waiting on paid FlatAwesome Pro style one day :D

And a shout out to all Xenforo forum folks who are now using and powering their forums and/or sites on my Centmin Mod LEMP web stack (Nginx/PHP-FPM/MariaDB MySQL/CSF Firewall) @RoldanLT @MattW @DeltaHF @Liam W @BamaStangGuy @jeffwidman @SneakyDave @KeVo @BoostN etc :D

Still speedy with all the addons installed :D
