XFtoWP - XenForo to WordPress integration

XFtoWP - XenForo to WordPress integration [Paid] 1.5.5

No permission to buy ($79.00)
Thank you very much, performance is the #1 feature of XFtoWP. :)

Yes, the using syncing feature will let you see the user's current groups and also change them from auto actions or admin actions.

Here's (more or less) what the admin user settings look like on any Edit User screen:

...and from automatic user actions:

These functions work well in the current beta with a few inconsistencies still being ironed out as noted in the Beta guide.

My question for you is how are you selling memberships on WP? In stage two of our beta we are testing various actions with the following plugins:
  1. WooCommerce
  2. MemberPress
  3. LearnDash
Some actions involve "when user purchases any product", "when user purchases product X', "when product X subscription expires", etc. It sounds like your use case fits in perfectly with what we are working to achieve with XFtoWP.

Currently today all purchases are on the XF side. That side handles all the user upgrades etc. Then as long as they sync with the WP side we can show/display ads appropriately. Definitely interested in this especially once synching is flushed out of beta.

That's a helpful use case to know, thanks for the extra info.

Hi there,

This is something that I probably need... I have a question, though: my forum is at the domain root (example.com) and I'd like to install WordPress at a folder (example.com/blog/) I haven't read anything about this in the docs so I assume I can sync WordPress and Xenforo this way, is that correct?

Regards...

That’s correct.

@Mangini Is it possible to limit the number of forum posts displayed under a wordpress post? Idea is to show 3 -4 forum posts and then have that "join the discussion" link. Will help avoid too much duplicate content.

Yes, you can change the number of replies that show from the Thread comments settings.

Just posting a reminder:

XFtoWP is a stable plugin with all working features as described on the sales page. We are currently testing the new User syncing functionality which is what the "beta" text describes in the current version number on this resource thread.

You can download the current stable version (without user syncing) and the optional beta plugin (with user syncing) from your XFtoWP account. Once the plugin is out of beta, all customers will be able to upgrade with the typical one-click update process, and we will go back to only offering one single plugin for download.

Downloading the beta plugin is optional and you will not be pinged to update until a stable version is available.

Finally, XFtoWP 1.2 beta 2 is coming soon. Thank you to everybody who tested the first round. :)

Hello

I am just starting but having some trouble setting it up. Would appreacite help if possible.

When i use button create/ schedule thread, the article I published on WP is replicated to XF but without content. The only thing that works for me is the article title and permalink but the picture and content itself is missing. I attached screen how it looks like on XF

Also in my case, we push every single article/news from Wordpress to forum (with other bridge i used in the past) and now it looks like i would need to create it manually pressing Schedule Thread. Is it possible to set this in auto mode so it will replicate all the news from WP to XF? In my case its around 600-800 articles per month on WP so this feature would be really needed for my readers.

Many thanks for your help

The {content} variable never made it to a full release and doesn't work, and should not even be listed there. My apologies on leaving that in the editor, but you should use the {excerpt} variable instead to get a limited post content to show in the forum.

Yes, this has been asked for and I should be able to include it in the next beta release of XFtoWP 1.2! Stay tuned and thank you for the feedback. :)

Thanks for the reply. So {excerpt} means it`s not going to be full article? Is there any other way to copy past the full one please?

edit.

And if not, is it possible to put this feature in next release? Sorry for pushing but its 3rd bridge i am testing and kind of lost hope i can deliver what i had before, with old bridge that is not updated anymore. Many thanks man.

ps. on positive note yours bridge was by far the easiest to setup 🍻

Hi there! This plugin looks good and so are its reviews, so I'm thinking of purchasing it. I have been running a Wordpress website (blog) and XenForo community (forum) apart from each other for some time, but due to a change in strategy I would like my XenForo users to be able to log in to our Wordpress system with their existing XenForo account. As far as I see now, the current 1.2 beta uses Wordpress as its main user database and tries to ignore the XenForo one as much as possible, but it only useable with a new installation. Do I see that right, or is it possible to use with existing systems as well, leaving both data in place? And if yes, are you planning on making this feature in the near future?

Thanks in advance for answering! Love the look and feel of it and also the other integrations of XenForo into Wordpress would be a cool addition to our websites, so hopefully we can give it a go.

Currently there isn't a way to reliably get the full post content sent over the API as it doesn't seem to like when the post has images (HTML <img> tag) in them. I will re-test this again for XFtoWP beta 2 as it has been a highly requested feature. For now, {excerpt} is your best bet.

I very much appreciate that one, I work very hard to make the plugin as easy as possible. 💪

Thanks for your interest in XFtoWP!

Correct, the plugin uses the WP users database primarily but once a user is connected there are many actions that can be done to modify the user in XenForo. You can use this plugin on an existing WP installation and begin manually verifying users and also setting up limited user actions. In the current beta you can sync users upon registration, so it will help get new users who are signed up synced together.

We are experimenting with bulk actions in the third beta of the plugin and it may be possible to initiate bulk sync actions from both sides, meaning we can verify XF users in WP and also vice-versa. I won't reveal too much there yet but it is looking promising, and the current progress on plugin integrations in beta 2 is currently coming along nicely. :)

So there is hope :) Thanks a lot for that, as said your, bridge is smooth and so easy to setup and work on it. Click, click and voilà all is done :) Would love to use it on my setup.

For the image issue, maybe it`s stupid idea but if we can use featured images, then copy pasting only text without images? Would this be possible? In my case this would meet my needs.

Cheers 🍻

Just wait 'til you see the full version of user syncing, if you can also make use of that. :)

To my memory without any images the full post content works and I may just have to make a disclaimer not to have any images in the post for it to work. Kind of lame, and maybe something I need to make a suggestion for here, but I will report back with something for you. :)

Solid feedback sent over PM:
  1. The string for "No replies yet" is missing.
  2. Nice to show category of connected forum names on create thread list. Some forums have same name across categories
  3. Possible inconsistency with connecting certain threads? Try to find any special criteria on thread IDs

Hi,
another idea, if not already on your task list: connect Wordpress categories to Xenforo categories, so we don't have to select the category every time when creating the forum thread.

And the separator for the numbers should also be stored as a string, because this is a comma or a point depending on the language.
