You need to move your whole operation, Mike. This is ridiculous.

Our advertisers are screaming bloody murder, our Ad Sense revenue is taking a beating and we have to play "jump through the hoop" with your ISP. It certainly doesnt sound like we're going to be back up tonight.

You know the situation Im in.. you know what Ive got coming at me. As much as Id like to stay around, this may be the last straw for us.

It doesn't help, but mail providers like AOL and Hotmail make it too easy for people to mark stuff as spam, and not encourage them to just delete the stuff they don't want, or click an unsubscribe link.

I'm using mail services from one provider that is used strictly for opt in mailing lists. I get warnings once a month from AOL claiming that my account is sending spam because a recipient marked it as such. I keep very good records of signups and deletions of emails, but again, it's just too easy for a recipient to say "It's just easier to mark this as spam, I don't want it anymore", rather than do a one click unsubscribe.

No consolation to your services, but it appears that it was a recurring problem before they shut you down. But without warning? wow

EDIT: Reading more, it sounds like you need to prove that none of your clients WEREN'T sending spam before they provide you any evidence that they were.

I hear you, you also been in direct contact with me though and know I'm doing all I can to get everything fixed ASAP.

Oh I know that and Im passing that along. Id prefer to stay right where we are because its less work for me but I dont have the final say but Ill do what I can.

I really do think you need to move tho.. this isnt the first time youve had downtime due to things outside of your control with these guys and not being able to get someone on the phone over something like this is insane.

I like our hosting, it's easy, it works and the support is good. However, I will echo many others in that I do think xFhost moving to a new provider may be a smart move.

We will be moving for sure. Only thing not stopping me from moving tonight already is I just payed our June bill earlier this week. So once everything is turned back on, it will be a few weeks before we do so, but I do plan to speak to both my bank and Paypal on Monday Tuesday on what could maybe be done as far as a reverse for that payment considering the 1st is still a week a way.

Thank you for staying positive though all this! It means a lot.

Just used SES for the first time for sending emails to valid (last year signups) to my forum members.
Virtually ALL of the "complaints" (that does not really mean a true complaint!) are from AOL and Hotmail.

I think I am going to remove any of those users from my email list as just those complaints are sending the SES up into a zone it may not like.....(% of complaints).

But, yeah...I remember back when a lot of ISP's simply blocked all hotmail.

Makes me think everyone should just start blocking AOL and Hotmail registrations...that might get them to change their act.

The only issue I have is that the servers that we host use information from databases and etc on our site, so that's our main concern. As all of our admins have no powers, although we've been ... obfuscating this fact from the players XD

Mike helped me move my site and stayed in touch with me through out the process, no way I am moving. I have faith in Mike and I just hope everyones site reopens by the end of the night.

We might lose a few clients over it, but this is the exact thought I been weighing in my head atm. Just blocking all Hotmail outbound. I am going though my EXIM logs with a fine tooth comb and the only things I'm seeing going to Hotmail are legit mailings to watched threads or new register confirm. There is a forum that it seems a mass majority of it's members use Hotmail, but if this site was the issue, this was not his fault as the mailings I am seeing are legit.

Mike, whenever I see Hotmail getting rejected in the mail logs, it's because someone reported a valid site email as spam. Whenever I ***** to Microsoft about it, they ask for a copy of the registration email, and shortly after that, the site is unblocked again.

With the addition of the spam tools in XF, I turned off validation emails for registering. If Hotmail shows up on the list one more time, I'll start blocking registrations using that email service.

Why not just disable email notifications and email confirmations when registered? Add a few security questions for bots and problem solved...
