xenforo isn't really a community.
It's a unthreaded threads chit-chat forum lacking almost any reasonable data structures with a photopost-like antiquated tabbed off gallery.
there is a massive lack of innovation.
If Xenforo really wants to forum only, it should retool as a development platform with a xenforo forum bolted on top of that. And let people innovate from the development platform.

With all the desctructiveness, ranting and negativity: Why on earth are you using XenForo and not something else? According to your posts it is a horrible product, created by horrible people.

The future is cloud only.

You really love to create drama constantly and again - as usually - from nothing, not only w/o any foundation but also against the official statements:

New license sales are still fine. Renewal sales are still fine. There’s no reason to change that other than the occasional necessity to increase prices.

What gives us that confidence is the strength of XenForo Cloud. This will never, in our current mindset and position, need to replace the self hosted model, but it has brought us a significant increase in income to sustain us beyond that model. XenForo Cloud typically accounts for around half of our income already.

So genuinely, we’re fine, and speculation to the contrary while appreciated, is just not accurate.

It is for sure true that Xenforo has no active plans to do away with self hosted Xenforo. And their current approach to cloud based Xenforo is friendly to a future for self hosted Xenforo.

If you zoom out further, admins wanting self hosting will significantly drop and the economics of self hosted xenforo with the rampant piracy abuse etc may preclude putting resources towards it.

If I recall plan A was working towards release of v3 (inc new editor and new style) At some stage plan B was to release the new editor in 2.4 and new style in 3.0. Perhaps it has reverted to plan A. Or maybe not.

I know an accountant at work who's pretty good at running office sports pools.

But with 2025 coming to a close, I'll be happy if we get 2.3.8 this year. My maintenance is paid up to May of next year so we'll see what happens in the next 6 months (I renewed for two years last time they had an offer on).

All anyone needs to do is go through your post history and they will find a strong history of posting unsubstantiated statements that serve no purpose other than sowing FUD (in this case, the XenForo vs Ashley angle you've pushed lately), that your idea of debate is purely circular arguments with out facts, experience or logic to back you, and that you dabble in both side-ism to an extent that the only thing that surpasses you in flip flops is the amount of tourists at the beach.

The only thing comical is that you have admitted to not even having an active community (and I believe you have not had one for most of your time here), yet you are labeling yourself a messenger? A messenger of what? You do not have any more contact with the staff than anyone else (and most likely less, given your history of alienating developers), you have no more information than anyone else, and all you present are theories without facts or evidence to support what you post.

And again, you're on ignore, and most of the time I do not go out of my way to read what you post because it adds no value. And after 10 years, that is the sad thing.

I was thinking just this. I seem to remember they've acknowledged that a handful of security vulnerabilities have been found and will be patched in the next version, so where is it? Something like that should be urgently put into a security update, something that 2.3.8 would be perfect for. Heck, this is the kind of thing that Apple do, making their products noticeably more secure than their competition and security really matters.
