I doubt it would, but I wouldn't mind, because there's nothing wrong with Facebook.

It depends on the add-on and the extent of the changes.

It is likely that add-ons will have to be updated.

I used phpbb2 and then 3. The addons had to be completely rewrited or start from new.

That would be expected for a first point release if the underlying code base changed significantly.
