Add a new discussion type: link discussion

Hello;

It would be interesting to add a new type of discussion: “links”

Exactly like Reddit, a user can link to an article that will be inserted into the body of the post automatically, with a preview and an “open” button, automatically generating the discussion title.

Thus users will be able to discuss the latest news and news of any topic covered by the forums more quickly.

Giving forum creators the ability to create special sections or prefixes or build addons on top of these features or give trophies.

• Improve the trophy system and gamification of Xenforo
• Improve the "followed users" interactions and notifications
• Introduce a new profile page or Widget: "User Statistics"

I moved from reddit and I feel that Xenforo is mostly already adequate in this regard. Sure, it could be tweaked a bit, but I think the time is probably best spent elsewhere.

Here's an example of a news subforum. And a "link submission".

I did have to use some 3rd party addons, as well as direct database modifications. I would definitely support Xenforo adding those natively.

For sure you can create this type of threads with a simple addon with templating etc. but Xenforo should add it to the core so can be mantained easily.

No, in Reddit's example it is literally a link (from the title and small embed image) and then it is only comments. The comments will usually have someone post the content (or some of the content) of the link.

As @Forsaken said, is a link. You could get copyright striked if you post the content of the articles systematically like with a RSS feed or with a bot scraping the pages and posting the entire content worst if is pay walled.

This is not the case. Is just a faster way to create discussions.
