1. If I'm viewing someone's picture in the gallery, like Brogan's here, and I want to see the rest of his pictures and/or albums he's posted in, where would I click? This is a common scenario on my forums, where people want to see other things from the same poster
In the Information block if you click on the Album name it will show all the pics in that Album, while in that Album if you click on the persons name it will show all the pics uploaded by that person.

Thanks. It looks like that's two clicks away though, because clicking on the "Uploaded By: Brogan" link only brings up his member card for XenForo. If I was viewing his photo, first I would have to click on "Album: Stuff" (in the Information block), and then click on "Owner: Brogan". There should be a direct link to his http://xenmediagallery.com/media/users/brogan.2/ link directly from any of his pics, not just from his album.

It's not an issue for me (we can tweak the templates to suit), but it's something others might want.

1) at the moment you just click Brogan's name in the sidebar or the avatar next to the title.

That loads his member card which has links to his media and albums (the numbers are clickable)

The discoverability of media is on my list for improvement. I just had to draw a line or I'd have never got this released :D

2) It had to be delayed unfortunately. Will be in the next big feature release hopefully but honestly I haven't started developing that yet.

I had video uploads working but they would only play if they were encoded correctly for the device you're viewing on.

I want to make it better than that. And more user friendly.

Just an FYI, most of the galleries I have used the had that capability used HTML5 as the default with Flash as the fallback. Unfortunately, that usually required creating two different versions of the video on the server, or even more versions if you wanted to do multiple resolutions (say 480 for regular users, 720 or 1080 for paid subscribers). It also required installing ffmpeg, mencoder, qt-fastart, flvtool, ffmpeg-php, etc. and their dependencies which can open up a whole can of worms itself.

I've found that a lot of users are uploading their videos to YouTube anyway, so that saves on HD space and bandwidth on your part.

Installed. This looks great so far.
I can't wait until I can import from Photopost Pro or vbulletin so that I can actually play with it.

Is there a way to transfer my users photos and albums from Photopost into this?

I have that on my site for many years but it has alot of glitches and not impressed with it anymore. Looking forward to using this one. (y)

1. As for the Xengallery addon the comments on the pictures/videos does not count towards total post count for a user.

Does this addon allow comments that goes towards total post count for users?

(I did purchase this awhile back but been waiting for this update) ^_^

2. I imported threads into Xengallery but now would like to import from Xengallery to this addon Xen Media Gallery - My question is should I remove all those threads that had pictures/replies to them so their not shown up twice as duplicate site content? Cause I have duplicate content now but dont want to skrew any seo up that we have been doing.

Any estimate by when Photopost importer will be ready ?

You can buy XenGallery, import PhotoPost to XenGallery (there are also several other importers for several software including vBulletin) and further import everything from XenGallery into Xen Media Gallery.

So you do not need to wait until the importers are ready and use this add-on now.

Any idea who is running the most images so far? I have 41,000 images and whenever I open a thread it goes to a blank screen with a fatal error in logs for running out of memory. If I disable xenMediaGallery the thread pages load normal.

Installed and looks impressive! One hell of a lot of work Chris!!! (y)

Some questions I have:

1) Are categories required or can I set this up so the users only option is to create an album?

2) If categories are required, could albums be put into a category? (this is confusing) An example might be a car website offering a category for each year car say 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, etc, then the user would create an album and put it in the appropriate year for his car.

Thanks,

Bob
