vBulletin 4 to XenForo Importer [Deleted]

addon-vb4ToXf11.xml

Is the file you need to import as an add-on.

That is what I have done. I have tried both versions of the download and i still get the same error when I goto 'import external data' after importing the file addon-vb4ToXf11.xml.

What is the link to your site?

Also would you mind sending me a PM with log-in details (with admin access) so I can see what exactly you are doing.... You've clearly from other post.... Uploaded a bunch of other importers (besides this one) and I'd like to help you "clean up" some of it.

I should have a copy of the older upldate files on my machine. It prolly pre-dates 4.2, but if that can help you out, let me know by means of a PC what file you need, and I can see if I can save you some time :)
If you could upload that here so I can compare a few things....

As originally stated... I lost that file and could use a copy if you have it.

You're all set and should be OK to import.

I corrected something in my last release and am surprised others did not discover it before you.

Thank you very much for your assistance - it is really appreciated :)

1\ With regard to the actual import, I have a question:
On my vb forums, I regularly run a purge of users that are x months old with 0 posts. Will these deleted users effect the import in any way?

EDIT: I see that the importer gives the option 'Retain imported content IDs' - I guess this will work even though the default install creates a forum category/node....

2\ Do I need to install/run the vb4 redirection thingy

1)

It should have no ill affect on your import. But keep in mind that currently, XenForo does not do that automatically.... There is a mod for it though

2)

After you have successfully completed the import .... It maybe a good idea. I personally never did so though.

I am preparing to migrate from VB 4.0.7 with vbseo to XF 1.1.3 using this tool and have one very important question at this stage - can this tool import users passwords?

I am trying to do a test import but getting errors when validating my configuration:

  • The attachments directory could not be found.
  • The avatars directory could not be found.
I have my attachments in /files and avatars in /customavatars what I belive is a default setup.

Depending on sever settings... You may need to impute the full server path and not just the root path

example....

/var/www/account-name/public_html/X-folder/

It is come to my attention that this importer has made its way onto nulled sites. The nulled copy has a back-door which allows for a hidden (secret) Super Administrator (above the default Super Administrator), that does not even show up on the members list and bypasses the config.php file. It also alters your database hash in such away that your database would be corrupt and unrecoverable if you successful locate and remove the hidden admin.

I'm aware that some nulled users read these forums (in secret)... Just thought you should know that you could have avoided all this, by actually purchasing a valid and legal copy of XenForo.

Question: I noticed you listed this as Open Source. Does that mean I can use this in another modification, add-on, template, skin, or 3rd party product of my own design, to release and distribute?

Answer: YES. When labelled as such (almost of my resources are), you are completely free to use whatever free open source I have shared. However, please give credit where is it due (as with any other open source code). :)

How did you create the package for this add-on? The file and directory permissions are too restrictive (0700 I think), it caused invalid callback error since XenForo could not access the file. Took me a good 10 minutes :(

Attachments, avatars, and generally any files you're porting over 755 or 777 (It varies on server setups)

As for the modification it's self?! Files are 644 and folders are 755 --- That's default XenForo.
