vBulletin 4 to XenForo Importer [Deleted]

When I upload the files I can't access the import external data page but when I delete them it all works fine.

The problem seems to come from vBulletin4plus under library/xenforo/importer

I may need to be clearer on the text read me.

Did you 1st follow the 1st importer, completed, and then followed the 2nd? The 2nd one isn't something you can pre-pare in advance...ie.. Don't even make the template edit until you've finished #1

Actually, I should apologize to you and everyone else in the community.

I mistakenly uploaded the original and un-edited version of vBulletin4plus into this release.

In my own pure stupidity, I even deleted the wrong file from my computer.

f*ck. :(

So I fear it is back to the drawing board for me. The subscription importer is not yet ready (well it was....but...ya....). However, thankfully, the newer vBulletin importer is attached.

I've had that happen, really sucks. I would suggest using github or something similar for future releases in order to avoid this. Plus it would allow others to easily push/pull/fork the open source project. :)

I've thought about that, but I do not want this going outside of XenForo (help limit piracy).

The project is open source in that others are welcome to distribute off of the current importer or if they want to improve the current one... They're welcome to submit something here and have it released, with credit given (that list is growing if you've noticed).

That is the closest to github we can have here, without passing it outside of XenForo.

Another option would be a private repo from assembla. I use them for small projects and their free private offering works quite well. Even just to keep your own code in version control and not share it with the world. (By the way not trying to push you in to version control, just throwing out options.)
 
I should have a copy of the older upldate files on my machine. It prolly pre-dates 4.2, but if that can help you out, let me know by means of a PC what file you need, and I can see if I can save you some time :)
 
So what does this importer do when it encounters vb blogs? Anything or does it just ignore them? I really wish we had a blog to thread converter for vB 3.8.7. I'm inches away from conversion but my users are pretty disheartened about the idea of losing their blogs

As it stands now, the current importer will move all your blogs and cms content into their own threads. So nothing will be lost.
 
Hello, just trying to run a test import from vb4.2 and I am very new to xenforo.

In step 5, it says 'Run the importer...' - how do you do that?

I thought maybe I had to go to Tools > Import External Data but I get the following:

Fatal error: Class 'XenForo_Importer_vBulletin4' not found in /home/theoldgi/public_html/xenforo/library/XenForo/Importer/vBulletin4Plus.php on line 3

So perhaps I need to run the importer from some other location. Sorry for being thick....

You're in the right location, but are using the importer that imports subscriptions. It is not yet read and not yet released. Download only from the 1st page, not the attached with was in this thread.

Hi, thanks for replying. So I have now just removed the wrong one I installed earlier and uploaded and imported the addon 'ragtek vbseo like importer_1.0.0 Beta1_b_1_en-US.xml' - I hope that was the correct one this time..

After doing that, should I see something for vb4 in 'import external data'? I see entries for vb3.6 and 3.7/3.8 but nothing for vb4 :confused:
