Thread Alerts/Subscriptions

I see in Preferences, one can select an option labeled:
__ Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply…

Is there anyway for a user to select ONLY the threads they create?(i.e. remove the "or when you reply" clause)

If not in the core, is there an add-on for doing that?

To me, it just seems if a user is automatically subscribed to each & every thread they reply to it could become overwhelming before long…if they post much.

It actually doesn't become all that overwhelming. It's by far my favourite way of keeping up to date with everything.

That said, if they do post in a lot of threads then they may just prefer to not be automatically subscribed to anything but manually subscribe to the threads they create (the button to watch or unwatch appears on every thread).

Isnt that the way it works in VB3?

You'll notice you don't get 3 alerts from this thread because 3 members replied (so far). That's why it isn't overwhelming.
Maybe if someone posts in 100 threads a day though..
