Bumps his opinion of a cms, which can be in the shape of a simple portal, simple frontpage, simple way of re-using content from the site such as high rated content, most liked content, popular content, featured content, or site news, featured pages, or whatever. Something to present to the users "this is who we are, this is what we are about, and this is our content, and that's new since your last visit".

Simple, subtle, effective, and not bloated.

Have you ever tried wordpress?

I know others want a cms (or wordpress bridge); a gallery and blogs.
But my greatest desire is a bbcode editor for the Pages so I and my mods can edit a Page just by clicking on it as if the content area is a forum message.

With this I can really develop loads of features using Pages. Some examples that would be very easy to set up and maintain with a bbcode editor on Pages -

1. STAFF
Staff only Pages to note current concerns/ tasklist.
Staff only share other sensitive/ confidential info to be easily updated.

2. FRONT PAGE FOR FORUM/S
Front Page for certain forums/ groups of forums to provide a useful and exciting entry to that area making it like a mini magazine.
Could be for a usergroup or could be for other group interests.
- To have pictures/ videos/ description of this this area's concerns/ topics;
- names of mod or mods with basic info about them and why they mod this area;
- links to key posts with useful explanations;
- links to other sectors/ forums the most relevant;
- useful lists of data as relevant/ links to relevant websites;
- pre set search to THIS area plus a copy of the general + advanced forum search.

3. HOME PAGE
(login opens this page not the forumlist)
News box. Special temporary stuff.
Link to forumlist.
Icons or pictures (described) linked to major areas.
Info on forum owner, and mods.
Link to rules.
Searches.
Usergroup specific sections that display on usergroup permission - so you get to see stuff relevant to YOUR usergroup/s.

Sure it can be done with html but it'll take twice as long to set up. twice as long to edit quick updates, and NONE of my mods do html so I won't be able to delegate.

+ 1

For example? :)
Wordpress wouldn't work for me as a media portal; I have to create my own solution for that.

Wordpress also really can't take the place of vBAdvance for many people, unless they do heavy modding and bridging.

Theres more examples, but I don't care to think of any :)

So what's wrong with it? :) Why do you need another CMS when you already have a wordpress?

Users will have to register for both the blog and the forum.
The changes I make on the forum, don't reflect the blog header - such as a new page or new tab.
The content I make on the forum, can't be re-used in the blog, etc.
I can't design the forum, without constantly manually updating the blog, instead of it adapting to it.

I can think of at least 5 more reasons why I rather have 1 core product with addons like forum/blog/gallery/cms, that make 1 web site. Than installing 5 different products on a web site, having members register 5 times, having it all be inconsistant, such as how comments are made, or how features work, what permissions there are for usergroups, etc.

Wordpress bridge? Hmm? Even if CMS for XenForo will be released I won't be using it because wordpress for me is okay and I have all the features I need in it. Also I use a login-system called Loginza, it prevents users form registering at all, just 2 clicks :) Both on forum and blog.
